Freedom is an incredible blessing!
As we approach celebrating America's 250th birthday, it's hard not to be grateful for this amazing country and the blessings that living in a free country provides.
Freedom of speech, the right to protect yourself and your family and the right to share the Gospel freely are rare (compared to most of the world) and wonderful gifts. So many have sacrificed their lives to ensure we enjoy those freedoms. Is any country or place perfect? Of course not. Until the Lord Jesus returns, there will be sin, corruption and injustice. That does not, however, mean that there isn't plenty to be grateful for.
One sacrifice gives us the greatest freedom. Through Jesus, we have the ultimate, eternal freedom. Because Jesus in his active and passive obedience, humbled himself to take on flesh and live the perfect life without sin that we cannot, because he went to the cross to take the just and right punishment for us that sin deserves-that we deserve, and because he rose again to rule forever- we do not have to live with shame, guilt or hopelessness.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
No matter what you have done, Jesus came for you. He lived for you and died for you and that sin and guilt you carry. The greatest freedom ever won was not won on July 4th, 250 years ago. It was won on the cross at Calvary when Jesus said, "it is finished."
No government or society will ever be perfect until we go to be with our maker. There is still plenty to be grateful and thankful for. Thank you, God, for this country and the freedom it provides. Thank you for all who protect it. Thank you for the ultimate freedom and victory we have in Jesus.
God bless everyone's 4th of July weekend
