Most Americans know nothing about Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. They've never lived in a place that was controlled completely by any of these religions. This is the reality they are ignorant of or willfully ignore.
This is what all the people around the world are protesting for.

I'm not saying their response was wrong. I am saying their sense of shock and surprise is very concerning. Even when traveling in the US it is your responsibility to be informed about the criminal activity where you will be traveling.
Shooting at someone to scare them isn't a smart move.
