ABOUT:
The Galleries of Ringling College is proud to present Tom Stephens: Echoes in Color, an exhibition showcasing the recent work of Sarasota-based artist and Ringling College alumnus Tom Stephens (Class of 1997). Known for his expressive use of color, gestural brushwork, and emotionally charged compositions, Stephens’ paintings explore the tension between abstraction and representation. His dynamic surfaces reveal a deep engagement with process and intuition, resulting in works that resonate with both personal introspection and universal human experience.

Rooted in a lifelong dedication to painting, Stephens’ practice reflects the evolution of an artist who continually pushes the boundaries of visual language. This exhibition brings together a selection of current and past works that highlight the artist’s ability to distill complex emotions into powerful, atmospheric imagery. As both a respected member of Sarasota’s creative community and a proud Ringling graduate, Stephens exemplifies the enduring impact of the College’s alumni, contributing meaningfully to the region’s vibrant cultural landscape..
