Update on the indomitable mahogany. A week or so after it was originally planted in 2018 someone broke it off. It began putting out leaves and grew to 8’ tall. A few weeks ago someone else cut it down to a 4’ stob. It is coming back.

Archbold is thrilled to announce that Last night, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law the , which incentivizes conservation and sustainable development in Florida. This legislation is vital for ensuring the prevention of habitat fragmentation for the endangered Florida panther and preservation of green infrastructure, like ranching and working lands, that are at the core of Florida’s economy and quality of life.

Countless conservationists and landowners have collectively worked toward this goal for years. It is a true testament to the power of collaboration, passion and hard work that the moment is here.

“The Florida Wildlife Corridor embraces the natural lands and working lands that make Florida unique, valuable, and the state the world loves to visit. The Corridor is critical to protect the headwaters of major watersheds which helps supply our drinking water, to save our precious wildlife, and so much more,” said Hilary Swain, executive director, Archbold Biological Station. “In the course of time, the Corridor will be viewed as the vision that helped change the future and save the state for generations to come.”
