Sensory friendly Brain Spark-programs to boost mind, body, memory, coordination, processing abilities. Carolyn Nash, a certified tutor, learning specialist, with extensive holistic MA studies in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology, including deeper studies in learning styles, wilderness therapies, and mindfulness. She has over 10 years experience, offers tutoring, learning style assessment and coa
ching combined in all subject areas and grades. In addition, she has begun to focus on supporting homeschooling families and helping kids with GAPS in their learning. Her varied background has leant her to be able to support families and students in a more whole child manner that aims to serve the student at the level of core challenges while helping to highlight and harness their unique gifts, talents and skills. Recently, she has extended her specialties to include tutoring for students on spectrum support, as she has discovered the benefit of holistic approach to the spectrum while supporting her neuro-divergent son. In that, she is a Step Up provider and accepts AAA FES-UA (aka Gardiner) scholarships. Emphasis in tutoring is on helping to create intrinsic joy in learning for the students. This is based on first developing a positive connection with the student and then utilizing a growth mindset and fun creative avenues for learning that fit the learning style of the student. To do this the first session starts with a fun learning style assessment. Afterwards informal subject assessments can be done, in which Carolyn will look for core challenges on the neuro-processing and developmental level. Tutoring is approached as a team, so that the goals and needs of the student and families are clearly set out and then a detailed holistic plan is then developed, which can include things like pairing homeschool curriculum to fit the learning style and needs of student and family, weekly schedule management and so on. Coaching support can include suggestions for deeper evaluations by other professionals sometimes with referrals to practitioners like a OT, Masgutova, nutritionist or suggest vision processing evaluations or more.
