Mapping out your composition BEFORE you start drawing is super important! That will help you make sure your subject is in proportion and also fits onto your canvas in a pleasing way.
If you mix one part linseed oil to six parts solvent, you’ll have a medium you can add to your oil paint that will thin it out without making it dry out too quickly OR too slowly! This is very useful if you’re doing subtractive painting.
