❤️ 5 Simple, Powerful Ways to Support Heart Health

When we think about heart health, it’s easy to jump straight to cholesterol numbers, blame genetics, or assume medication is the only answer…

But your heart is influenced by so much more!

It responds daily to how you nourish your body, how you move, how you think, how you manage stress, how well you sleep, and how connected and supported you feel.

Heart disease doesn’t develop overnight - and neither does heart resilience.

Small, consistent habits practiced over time are what truly create prevention, protection, and long-term vitality. ❤️

Here are 5 foundational ways to love on your heart:

🥗 1. Build meals around whole, anti-inflammatory foods
Your heart thrives on real food. Focus on colorful vegetables, quality protein, healthy fats, and fiber.

Heart-loving whole organic foods:
• Leafy greens, berries, beets, and cruciferous veggies
• Fatty fish (wild salmon, trout, sardines)
• Olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds - esp. flax, chia, h**p seeds, walnuts
• Fiber and polyphenol rich foods - pomegranates, cranberries, green tea

💡 Aim for progress, not perfection—one nourishing choice at a time.

🚶‍♀️ 2. Move your body in ways that feel supportive (not punishing)

You don’t need intense workouts to support your heart.

Consistency matters more than intensity.
Try:
- Daily walks (even 10–20 minutes helps!) - then work up to 10,000 steps most days
- Strength training 2–3x/week
- Gentle movement like yoga, stretching, or rebounding
- Swats every 40 minutes if you sit all day
Movement improves circulation, insulin sensitivity, blood pressure, and stress resilience- all heart wins.

😮‍💨 3. Calm your nervous system (this is HUGE for heart health)

Chronic stress keeps your body in fight-or-flight, raising cortisol, blood pressure, and inflammation.

Simple ways to support your nervous system:
- Slow, deep breathing (especially longer exhales)
- Time outdoors and sunlight exposure
- Prayer, meditation, journaling, or gratitude practices
- Reducing mental “overload” and unrealistic expectations
- Hug your pet or loved one for 20+ seconds :)

✨ A calm body is a heart-protective body.

💤 4. Prioritize quality sleep like it’s medicine (because it is)
Poor sleep is strongly linked to blood sugar issues, inflammation, and cardiovascular risk.

Support better sleep by:
- Going to bed and waking up at consistent times - in bed before 11pm
- Limiting screens at night or wear blue blocking glasses
- Eating balanced meals during the day (under-eating stresses the heart!)
- Creating a calming nighttime routine
Your heart repairs and regenerates while you sleep - don’t skip this step.

❤️ 5. Support your gut (your heart depends on it)

Your gut and heart are deeply connected through inflammation, cholesterol metabolism, and immune signaling.

Focus on:
- Adequate fiber intake 25-35 grams
- Cutting out simple sugar and ultra-processed foods
- Supporting digestion (chewing, meal timing, stress reduction)
- Personalizing foods that your body tolerates well
🌿 A healthier gut means better cholesterol balance, lower inflammation, and improved heart markers.

💛 Final Thought

Heart health isn’t about doing everything perfectly - it’s about daily acts of care, consistency, and compassion for your body.

Small shifts practiced over time can create powerful change.

The GUT HEALS only when it feels SAFE. 💛

This is one of the most overlooked pieces of healing - and a topic I’ve been leaning into deeply with my clients and groups.

Safety was something I personally had to work on to finally move from SURVIVING to truly THRIVING!

In the world we live in today, safety doesn’t happen automatically.

We have to intentionally create it - and gently address the old beliefs, traumas, and thought patterns that keep us stuck in survival mode.

Constant headlines.
Endless scrolling.
Fear-based messaging is A LOT for the body.
And your nervous system feels all of it.

Friends,
this is why your body needs you to set boundaries...

To protect your PEACE and support your HEALTH.

Your body is always scanning the environment for danger or safety… even when you’re not aware of it.

It doesn’t know the difference between an open flame and fear-filled information on a screen.

What you see, say, read, listen to, and experience moves through your autonomic nervous system....please be selective.

That information shapes how your
- gut functions,
- how your immune system responds,
- and how your hormones are released and regulated.

When stress becomes chronic, and negativity prevails....the body stays stuck in survival mode.

Digestion slows.
The gut barrier weakens.
Inflammation rises.

You’re surviving - not THRIVING.

When you feel safe, calm, relaxed, and socially connected.....the body shifts.

This is when digestion improves, immunity regulates, metabolism balances, and healing can occur.

That’s why nervous system regulation is the

#1 foundation of gut health.

Without safety, even the most perfect diet, supplement plan, or exercise routine falls short.

Friends… I feel like someone needs to hear this today. Maybe it’s you. 💛

If you’ve been stuck in DOING- fixing, pushing, researching, supplement-adding, protocol-hopping -
trying so hard to heal your gut but still feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and discouraged…

Let this be your reminder as we step into this New Year:

✨ Healing doesn’t begin with more DOING.
It begins with how you are BEING. ✨

**Pause for a moment and let that sink in.**

The Bible states it so well:
“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7)

Modern science is finally catching up to this truth.

Research shows that our thoughts directly influence our nervous system, hormones, and immune response. Chronic stress thoughts increase cortisol and adrenaline, keeping the body in a constant state of fight-or-flight.

And when the body doesn’t feel safe… healing haults.

Your thoughts shape your feelings.
Your feelings create a chemical response in the body.
That chemistry signals either danger or safety to your nervous system.

And healing only happens in safety.

My dear one… if you feel stuck, frozen, or exhausted, it is not because you are failing. It’s because your nervous system is overwhelmed.

So friend... slow down.
It’s okay.
You really can....I give you permission.

Do less.
Stop pushing.
Shift your belief that you have to figure this all out alone. You don’t.

And maybe - just maybe- pause the things that are quietly keeping you stuck:
• The social media posts that make healing feel impossible
• The news designed to keep you in fear
• The scrolling that leaves you feeling behind
• The comparison that whispers “you’re not doing enough”

What if healing didn’t come from more effort… but from less pressure?

What if it came from:
🌿 Getting outside in nature
🌿 Moving your body gently
🌿 Shifting from isolation to community
🌿 Moving from self-focus to service
🌿 Reconnecting to Purpose and to God
🌿 Trusting that the Creator who designed your body - also knows how to heal it.

And what if- like it was for me - your chronic health condition wasn’t working against you…

...but was actually working FOR you?

Leading you to the right people.
Teaching you how to truly care for your body.
Inviting you into a more connected, peaceful, and grounded version of yourself.

Friend, you are not broken.
Healing is possible.
Your body holds incredible wisdom.

Slow down.
Breathe.
