Could life be any more beautiful? We highly recommend spending time with Kindergarten children if you want to have a good time! We ended our field trip on Friday at The Bay Sarasota playground and we had a blast.

Star Lab is extremely grateful to the Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency for funding our summer camp which allowed many of these students to get in the swing of school starting in June. They have the skills to succeed - and after a week of hard work they earned their playtime!

Family Cooking Class #2 was a huge success! Families asked for a one-pot recipe that A) they could get on the table in the midst of their busy lives, and B) that their kids would actually eat!

Ms. Danette taught us to make the most delicious vegetable soup in about 10 active minutes of preparation. She used ground beef and a mix of fresh and frozen vegetables - and it was absolutely outstanding! It received rave reviews from a highly opinionated crowd.

Thanks to a collaboration with The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, and their programming, Star Lab provided childcare so the adults could connect with each other and learn the recipe. Then everyone got to enjoy the meal together, and families left with all the ingredients to re-create it at home, as well as cutting boards, kitchen knives, vegetable peelers, and storage containers.

We can't wait for the next one! We will learn to make collard greens in the InstaPot on September 10th!

Montessori on the move! We use hands-on learning materials to teach math, grammar, geography, and science during the day. Then we wheel our shelves out of the way each afternoon so the Boys & Girls Club can have lots of room for their incredible aftercare program.

When children use their hands and minds together, they form long-lasting understanding. These second and third graders are learning skip-counting, multiplication, and fractions. Look at their focus!

Star Lab delivers accelerated reading outcomes by splitting into small groups, based on current levels. Each teacher can build on what students already know and give them the next bite-sized chunk. Lots of personalized feedback helps the learning stick.

Star Lab students start every day cultivating Ready Bodies and Learning Minds! Students travel between different Motor Lab stations, practicing balance, control, small- and large-motor movements, and coordination.

It’s universal OT - everyone gets it! And it’s so much more than a physical activity. Students start the day in a cooperative mindset, with social connection and intentional movement. Exercise is medicine - without the side effects!
