The inaugural Suncoast Student Science Experience is coming to a close, and we're excited to celebrate the incredible work of our students!

Join us on Thursday, July 9, as students from Southeast High School present the findings from their Red Tide research projects, highlighting what they learned during four days of hands-on fieldwork, laboratory investigations, and collaboration with scientists and educators.

What an incredible first day of our Red Tide Student Workshop!

Students from Southeast High School spent the day on City Island collecting water samples and exploring local marine ecosystems before visiting Save Our Seabirds to learn firsthand about the impacts harmful algal blooms can have on wildlife.

This four-day immersive workshop brings together students, scientists, and educators to investigate red tide and its effects on our environment, animals, and human health. Throughout the week, students will gain hands-on experience in field research, laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific communication while working alongside professional researchers.

We are proud to collaborate with University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus, Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, Save Our Seabirds, and Southeast High School to inspire the next generation of marine scientists and environmental stewards.

We are excited to announce that beginning this August, The Roskamp Institute will host a monthly Caregiver Support Group led by Empath Health's Dementia Care Team.

Supporting someone living with dementia can be a challenging journey, and no caregiver should have to navigate it alone. This group will provide a welcoming space for caregivers to connect with others who understand their experiences, access valuable resources, and receive guidance from dementia care professionals.

We are incredibly grateful to the Dementia Services team at Empath Health for visiting The Roskamp Institute last Thursday and providing our staff with the opportunity to participate in the Virtual Dementia Tour®.

This powerful experience offered valuable insight into the challenges faced by individuals living with dementia, helping us deepen our understanding and empathy. The tour left a lasting impact on our team, and we learned so much from the experience.
