CAN WOMEN BE ELDERS/PASTORS OR DEACONS IN THE CHURCH ?

Women can serve in many capacities in the church, but they cannot pastor a flock of believers… not if it is a doctrinally correct church.

The Holy Bible is irrefutable and infallible. Scripture clearly sets forth the qualifications of an elder/overseer and a deacon.

Please see 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and 8-13.

Of course, this is providing that you accept the Bible in its entirety as your final authority. If you do not, then you may as well not read the rest of this article.

“He must be the husband, of but one wife” is specifically referring to the male gender in the original Greek. 

Throughout these verses, the words “he” or “him” are specifically referring to men only.

Elsewhere in the Bible, when the words “he” or “him” are used, it is commonly generic pertaining to both genders.

I have discipled countless women since 1977 and have seen them go to the extreme by supporting women pastors. And 10 times out of 10, they have been badly hurt by men. So they go completely the other way which is not biblical and therefore a sin of a most grievous kind.

COAST Ministry, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. As president, I see to it that the Articles of Incorporation are adhered to.

I come under the leadership of God first, who is above our pastors/elders, and then two of our deacons.

My deacons and I discuss any issues or questions regarding disciplining women or pertaining to the CMI Street Ministry and we come to an understanding.

However, if he is in disagreement with me, I submit to his authority. This is the proper order by which God created the church. 

I have a board of directors and we are accountable to one another. They are all men and therefore above me in authority.

We exchange ideas and they listen to my feelings and opinions; however, I do not have the final say in the decisions that are made. I submit to their authority.

One man on the board is an elder, two are deacons and myself.

It is not always easy to submit to their authority, but neither is it easy for a wife to submit to her husband. Both examples are biblically correct. 

Any church that appoints woman as an elder or deacon is in rebellion to the Bible.

““For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as wickedness and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Yahweh, He has also rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel‬ ‭15‬:‭23‬ ‭LSB‬‬

I would never attend a church with a female pastor or deacon. If I may warn you, do not reject the word of Yahweh.

This comes from a woman in ministry who has had joy and sorrows throughout my 47 years of salvation for which I am so very grateful.

I do not proclaim to know everything; however, some of the things I have learned under the umbrella of “correct doctrine” are as follows:

• keeping scripture in context (vital)
• who is speaking?
• to whom are they speaking?
• what are surrounding circumstances?
• what is the time of the writing?
• What
does a pivotal word in the verse mean in the original language in which was written:
• Hebrew, Koine Greek and a few phrases written in Aramaic?

Why do I say “Shalom Shalom?”Because Jesus and His disciples said it. The meaning:

Repeating the Hebrew word as "shalom shalom" (שָׁלוֹם שָׁלוֹם) means "complete peace," "perfect peace," or "ultimate wholeness." In Hebrew grammar, repeating a word intensifies its meaning, elevating it far beyond a simple greeting to describe total well-being, safety, and an unbroken state where nothing is missing.
