Every lesson is conducted fully outside, with games and project -based learning. What an incredible way to build friendships!
Voluneers are encouraged to stay for the school year to develop their ledership potential. The short term participation can be sued to satisfy high school diploma & Bright Futures volunteer hours requirements. Yet, the long-term exprience could be used on college applications and data could be used for AP reserach paper.

Say it with me: concrete is manipulatives, not mental images.
I love that presenters and some curriculum vendors are pushing the Concrete - Representational - Abstract approach to teaching.... Yet, it is so hard to see how they are getting it wrong.
In CPA (or CPRA) C standards for concrete, things learners can move and manipulate around. That's what makes math make sense.
The curriculum publishers and the presenters literally said "you don't need manipulatives, just pictures/photos - that's the concrete approach".
As a dyscalculia specialist, this is misinformation, which will lead to wrong ideas given to teachers. Yes, kids need the Pictorial part. However, the true CPA approach REQUIRES manipulatives.
I've taken learners from not being able to count down to multiplying within 1 year and all because of the correct implementation of CPA.
