Now Enrolling! www.newgate.edu We have 2 campuses. It is home to our Toddler to 6th grade students.

NewGate’s original Ashton Road campus located at 5238 Ashton Road in Sarasota, Florida was a working organic farm when it first debuted as a school in 1984. It is a five-acre setting of mature trees, charming Florida buildings, decks, gardens, playgrounds, and an athletic field. Our second campus is home to our Upper School (grades 7-12) at 5481 Communications Pkwy, Sarasota, FL 34240. The former

Center for Building Hope, the Lakewood Ranch Campus is a Gold Level LEED certified facility. NewGate integrates the two buildings, expansive gardens and surrounding nature preserves of its Lakewood Ranch campus to engage their students in hands-on research and exploration. Architects Michael Carlson and Jedd Heap of Carlson Studio Architecture worked with landscape architect David Young of DWY Landscape Architecture on the original site.

Learning together in Elementary. 💙

In NewGate’s mixed-age Elementary classroom, students learn with and from one another every day.

Younger students are surrounded by examples of independence and leadership, while older students have opportunities to mentor, collaborate, present, and take greater responsibility within the classroom community.

From lessons and discussions to independent work and shared responsibilities, the Elementary environment supports curiosity, confidence, collaboration, and meaningful growth.

This is the beauty of a Montessori classroom: children are not all doing the same thing at the same time — they are growing within a community built for independence, connection, and discovery.

In NewGate’s Montessori classrooms, even the youngest children are trusted with real, meaningful work.

Preparing snack, washing dishes, caring for plants, tending the garden, arranging flowers — these are not just sweet classroom moments. They are practical life lessons that help children build independence, concentration, coordination, confidence, and care for their environment.

Day by day, children discover that they are capable contributors to their classroom community.

In the Montessori Primary classroom, children build early literacy through hands-on, multi-sensory experiences.

Sound games, objects, symbols, and movement help young learners connect spoken language with written language in a way that feels natural, joyful, and meaningful.

These small moments of focus lay the foundation for reading, writing, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

In NewGate’s Elementary classroom, learning stretches across many areas of discovery — from science experiments and hands-on math to reading, writing, geography, culture, and world knowledge.

Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore big ideas, work with concrete materials, collaborate with classmates, and build independence as learners.

It’s wonderful to see our Elementary students settling into the new school year with curiosity, focus, and joy.

A peek inside our Primary classrooms 💙

In Casa 1 and Casa 2, children begin the year by settling into the rhythm of the prepared environment — choosing purposeful work, practicing independence, caring for materials, building concentration, and learning alongside friends.

These early weeks are full of small but meaningful moments: hands carefully at work, quiet focus, joyful discovery, and the confidence that grows when children are trusted to participate fully in their classroom community.

There’s nothing quite like the energy on campus when students and families return. 💙

Our Open House and Community Potluck was filled with classroom visits, familiar faces, new introductions, shared food, and the excitement of a school year just about to begin.

Thank you to the families, students, faculty, and staff who joined us and helped fill the campus with such warmth and connection. Moments like these are a beautiful reminder that NewGate is more than a school — it is a community.
