Registration is now open for the Fourth Annual Dengue Endgame Summit, September 15–17, 2026, at Hotel Saranac in Saranac Lake, New York.

Recent advances in dengue vaccines, therapeutics, and vector control have created new opportunities to advance dengue control. At the same time, dengue continues to pose a growing global public health challenge.

The Dengue Endgame Summit will bring together experts from academia, government, biotech, pharma, and the medical community to discuss the current state of dengue around the world. Participants will consider what meaningful dengue control could look like and explore potential paths toward achieving it.

The summit is presented by the Global Health Institute at SUNY Upstate Medical University and Trudeau Institute.

Congratulations to Trudeau Institute’s 2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Program interns!

This summer, our interns collaborated closely with Trudeau scientists, gaining valuable hands-on experience and deeper insight into research. The program culminated in our Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium, where each student presented their research projects and reflected on the skills and knowledge they gained during their time at Trudeau Institute.

Thank you to the mentors, laboratory teams, and staff who supported our interns throughout the program and helped make this experience possible. We wish our 2026 interns continued success as they return to their studies and pursue their future careers in science and beyond.

Happy RNA Day!

This past Sunday marked World RNA Day, an annual celebration of ribonucleic acid (RNA), the molecule that carries genetic information, helps regulate gene expression, and directs cells to produce the proteins needed for life. August 1 was chosen because AUG is the RNA start codon that signals the beginning of protein synthesis.

At Trudeau Institute, RNA biology is helping answer important questions about the cellular processes that keep us healthy and, in some instances, contribute to disease. Dr. Shelton Bradrick's research has shown that specialized ribosomes containing the ribosomal proteins RPLP1 and RPLP2 are critical for flaviviruses, including dengue and Zika viruses, to efficiently produce viral proteins and establish infection. By understanding how viruses hijack the host cell's protein-making machinery, researchers can identify new targets for antiviral therapies.

Just one more day until Trudeau Institute’s Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium!

Meet Summer Research Intern Nana Sannomiya, a rising senior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Nana came to Trudeau with research experience through the SEA-PHAGES program, where she studied bacteriophages and learned genomic annotation. She also had the opportunity to draft and edit a manuscript describing a bacteriophage with her professor and classmates.

With research interests in immunology, virology and regenerative medicine, Nana’s goal this summer has been to gain new skills and strengthen her capabilities as a researcher. Tomorrow, she’ll join our other summer scholars in presenting their work at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium.
