Thank you to all who were able to help at the Ironman Aid station yesterday. We had a great turnout and received a lot of positive feedback about our energy and work ethic. Well done everyone!

Typically we receive between $500 to $700 for working this station, receiving the money normally in late September. Additionally, we are eligible for an Ironman grant for volunteering, so I have applied for that as well.

We do have another fundraiser this coming Saturday helping with Can Am Rugby. This fundraiser usually garners a $500 donation from Rugby. We have the adult coverage that we need thanks to Coach Ash, Elaine Cauldweel, Lynda Peer, and myself.
We will need four cross country team members per 2-hour shift to answer questions and patrol for garbage on the practice football field and Schroder’s field.

We will place two athletes at each field and the adult on duty will roam both fields answering any questions that come up. This is an easy way to help out and hopefully you can team up with a friend or two.

Shifts that need to be filled are: 9AM to 11:00 AM, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and 3:00 PM to 5:00PM.

Please email at [email protected] to sign up for a shift.

Last, our athletes are crushing the summer workouts! We had 23 participants today.

Thanks everyone.

Coach Peer

Good morning cross country family and friends.

We will be working the Ironman Aid run station #3 on River Road again this year, Sunday, July 21st.

This serves as a fundraiser for our program.

We'd love to have friends and alumni join us.

Shifts are 3 to 7:30 PM and 7:30 to 11:45PM.

No worries if you can't work the whole shift, pick a time frame that works for you.

We are happy for any and all help.

Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested. I'll keep track of who's coming and when.

Thank you,

Coach Peer

Hello Cross Country folks.

Please consider voting this coming Tuesday on the Saranac Lake Central School District budget, board members, and the propositions put forward to the voters.

The polls which will be open form 7 AM to 8PM at the District Offices.

Below is my letter in support of propositions 3 and 4 that I wrote recently for the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.

Thank you,

Coach Peer

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Editor,

I write in support of Saranac Lake Central School District’s upcoming vote on Propositions 3 and 4: the installation of field turf, lights, scoreboard, bleachers, and press box.

As a parent of three adult children who benefited greatly from both the academic and extracurricular activities provided by SLCSD, I believe this project is consistent with the district's goal to provide opportunities for all of its students.

Further, as a long time teacher and coach for SLCSD I believe this project enhances our athletic offerings. Specifically, this will support a longer fall season for teams competing in postseason play as well as early spring access for all teams to practice outdoors. Additionally, with our changing climate, this project provides opportunities for non-field sport teams such as Alpine and Nordic Skiing with a place to safely and effectively train when snow is not available and darkness comes early.

This project provides us with additional instructional space for Physical Education classes which impacts all students, here again extending the Fall season outdoors as well as earlier Spring access.

Last, as a community resource, this project parallels the recent renovations at the Saranac Lake Civic Center, which is an absolute gem. This venue provides the greater Saranac Lake community with something we presently do not have, an all weather outdoor field surface whose usage may not yet fully be envisioned.

In closing, I applaud our board of education and administrative team for a thoughtful and responsible plan as well as an honest and transparent dialogue on this project.

I look forward to voting yes on May 21st.

Respectfully,

Bill Peer

Good morning. I don't post Saranac Lake Cross Information often here anymore as we have shifted to the sports you platform. However, I wanted to post a shout out to Junior Jake Kollmer who at sectionals on the Cobble Hill Golf Course in Elizabethtown yesterday won in a time of 15:08. Jake has now run the fastest time for any Saranac Lake boy on this course, That's a pretty impressive statement considering the outstanding runners that have come before him.

Our boys team finished 2nd yesterday with Jake qualifying for the state meet next week.

Our girls team had a great day placing 2nd as well with Asa Bruno and Phoebe Peer qualifying for the state meet.

Ironman 2023 Run Aid Station #3

For the past several years our Cross Country Program has volunteered at the Ironman in Lake Placid. Working on the River Road at Run Aid Station # 3 we partner with the Lake Placid Baptist Church to assist athletes with nutrition. It is a lot of fun and each year we have received a donation for our program to help us purchase extra things for our program like team shirts.

We will be involved again this year.

Here are the details:

Run Aid Station # 3 River Road
Captain: Damon Hartman

Below is a link directly to our IM station sign up. The volunteer Local site has a lot of stations and this makes it easier for your volunteers to find our run station 3 site.

This registration is specific to our station.

Please pick either the 3-7:30 PM or 7:30-11:45 PM shift.

You are not required to stay that whole time, or if you have to arrive a little later, that is fine.

Please invite friends and family to join us and register.

Please pick a time window that works closest for you..

Please also email with names and times for working; that will help me with knowing who will be coming and when. [email protected]

In the group volunteer window at registration, please type in : Saranac Lake Cross Country Team.

Thank you
