ZEP ATHLETIC UPDATE

Another Exciting Week for the Zeps!

Another very active week for our Zeps, filled with exciting moments, valuable lessons, and memories that will last a lifetime!

As we head into tournament time, I want to wish all of our teams the best of luck and congratulate our student-athletes and coaches on their seasons so far. Every season comes with its ups and downs, but the hard work, dedication, growth, and lessons learned along the way are what make athletics so special.

Let's finish strong, Zeps!

VARSITY ATHLETICS

FOOTBALL | 4-4

Our Zeps are looking to get back on track this week as they take on Frontier! With just a couple of weeks remaining in the regular season, it's time to finish strong. Come out, pack the stands, and support both our Zeps and Little Zeps! Let's make it a great atmosphere under the Friday night lights!

VOLLEYBALL | 13-7

What an exciting week for our Lady Zeps! After a very busy week that included a win, a loss, and two extremely exciting matches, one thing is certain: if you haven't been to a Zep volleyball game, you're missing out!

The girls hit the road this week for an OVAC Tri-Match against Steubenville and Harrison Central. This will be a great opportunity to build some momentum heading into tournament play. Keep battling, ladies!

BOYS SOCCER | 5-10

Although the regular season hasn't gone exactly how we had hoped, don't count these boys out! This team is more than capable of surprising a lot of people when tournament time arrives.

The boys have the week off to regroup, get healthy, and prepare for postseason play. Records go out the window when the tournament begins. It's a new opportunity, and anything can happen. Good luck, boys!

GIRLS SOCCER | 7-7-3

What a season for our Lady Zeps! These girls have battled through a very demanding schedule, with plenty of time spent on the road, and have put together a great season.

They have certainly earned a week to rest, recover, and get healthy before tournament play begins. We are proud of the way these girls have competed all year. Good luck in the tournament, ladies!

CROSS COUNTRY | OVAC CHAMPIONS!

What more can we say? OVAC CHAMPIONS!

A HUGE congratulations to our Boys Cross Country team on bringing home the OVAC 3A CHAMPIONSHIP! What an incredible accomplishment for these young men and their coaches!

We also want to give a special congratulations to Ida Estadt, who earned the title of OVAC 3A Individual Champion! Ida ran a personal record (PR) and finished 3rd overall in the entire OVAC!

What an outstanding performance and a great day to be a Zep! Congratulations to all of our runners and coaches. Your hard work is paying off!

JUNIOR HIGH ATHLETICS

FOOTBALL | 6-1

What a fun team to watch this season! These boys have battled all year and have become true road warriors, spending much of their season away from home.

Now, they finally get to finish the season in front of their home crowd!

THURSDAY IS THE FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON!

Let's pack the stadium and give these boys the home-field atmosphere they deserve! Come out, get loud, and cheer on our future Zeps as they look to finish an outstanding season on a high note!

VOLLEYBALL

7th Grade | 15-2

8th Grade | 7-10

These girls have battled, improved, and competed all season long, and now it's time for the most exciting part of the year: TOURNAMENT TIME!

Our 7th-grade team begins tournament play on Monday, followed by our 8th-grade team on Tuesday.

At this point, throw the records out the window! Tournament time is a fresh start for everyone. It's about playing hard, having fun, competing together, and making memories.

Let's PACK THE GYM all week and show these girls the support they deserve! Good luck to both teams and their coaches!

CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to our Junior High Cross Country runners on a great season! It has been exciting to watch the improvement, determination, and hard work from this group throughout the year.

A special congratulations to Bennett Hendershot on an outstanding 11th-place finish at the OVAC Championships!

We are proud of all our junior high runners and the progress they made this season. The future is bright!

ACT OF KINDNESS OF THE WEEK

Recognize Someone Who Doesn't Always Get the Spotlight!

This week's challenge is to find someone who works hard behind the scenes and let them know they are appreciated!

Whether it's a custodian keeping our facilities looking great, a bus driver getting our athletes safely to games, a teacher going the extra mile, a concession stand worker, or someone who simply makes your day better, take a moment to say THANK YOU!

So many people play a role in making our school and athletic programs successful, and not all of them get the recognition they deserve.

I challenge our student-athletes, coaches, parents, and fans to personally thank someone this week who doesn't always get the credit they deserve.

A simple thank-you, a handwritten note, or a few kind words can mean more to someone than you realize.

Remember, you don't have to be the one scoring touchdowns, making big plays, or winning championships to make a difference.

Sometimes the biggest impact comes from the people who never step onto the field or court.

Great teams recognize everyone's contributions, and great communities make sure nobody feels unnoticed!

Let's make someone's day a little brighter this week!

The girls are heading into a long week with three tough opponents. Stay focused, girls, and take it one match at a time. Keep battling and finish the regular season strong!

Girls Soccer — 7-7-1

The girls enter the final week of the regular season with two big games. Unfortunately, both contests are on the road, but these girls have been road warriors all season long. If you have the opportunity, get out and support our girls as they finish the regular season strong!

Boys Soccer — 5-8

The boys will hit the road to finish their regular season with two games away from home. Just like the girls, these boys have been road warriors all season. Finish strong and get ready for tournament action, guys!

Golf

Golf wrapped up its season this week at Districts. As a second-year program, the future continues to look bright for Shenandoah Golf. Congratulations to the entire team on a successful season and on all of the progress made throughout the year.

A special congratulations to Tate and Paxton on all of their success this season and for representing Shenandoah Athletics with pride!

Cross Country — Boys & Girls

There is a lot of exciting news coming from the Cross Country program. Multiple PRs, multiple wins, and countless memories have been made throughout the season. The boys and girls continue to improve and compete at a high level.

The teams will continue their postseason journey this weekend as they compete in the OVAC Championships in Cambridge. Good luck, Zeps, and continue to run strong!

JUNIOR HIGH SPORTS
Football — 5-1

Last week, the boys lost a nail-biter by a touchdown to Woodsfield, suffering their first loss of the season. The good news is that they have an opportunity to right the ship this week as they take on River.

Good luck, boys! Show the resiliency and determination that we all know you have!

Volleyball

7th Grade — 14-1
8th Grade — 7-8

These girls are very fun to watch, and every time they step on the court, things get exciting. Both teams are entering the final week of their regular season before heading into tournament action next week.

Finish strong, girls, and get ready for tournament time!

Cross Country

Junior High Cross Country continues to go strong, with several PRs being recorded as these young athletes continue to improve each week. It is exciting to watch our students push themselves, exceed their expectations, and continue to grow throughout the season.

Keep working hard, Zeps!

ACT OF KINDNESS
Lift Someone Up

Everyone has tough days, and sometimes a few encouraging words can make a big difference. This week, look for someone who may need a little extra encouragement. Cheer on a teammate, recognize someone for their hard work, congratulate someone on an accomplishment, or remind someone that you believe in them.

You never know how much a few positive words can mean to someone. Let's continue to build each other up and make Shenandoah a place where everyone feels supported.

Lift others up. Encourage one another. Be a Zeps difference-maker.

GO ZEPS!

Thank you to all of our student-athletes, coaches, families, staff, and community members for your continued support of Shenandoah Athletics. Keep showing up, supporting our students, and making memories together!

A little late in posting but these are our Cross Country athletes eating some Canes to refuel before they get back on the road. To me it sounds like they deserved it! Awesome job today teams.

Meet Recap!

High School:
🥇 2 medals!

Ida — 4th/401

Joel — 12th/475

Girls — 31st/34 teams

Boys — 9th/37 teams

Three HS girls ran PRs — Kaylin, Hope, and Sebella! 🎉

The course was muddy in places, especially through the woods, making for a challenging race.

The boys were projected to finish 14th, so placing 9th in a field of 37 was a fantastic result! Top 10 was a great accomplishment for this group.

Ida had an incredible race, finishing just 3 seconds behind 2nd place and 14 seconds behind 1st. What a race! 👏

Junior High:
🥇 1 medal!

Bennett — 23rd/413

All three JH boys — Bennett, Connor, and Matt — ran PRs! 🔥

So proud of the effort, determination, and improvement from everyone today. Great job, runners! 💪🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Today our students enjoyed a Game Day Celebration for our PBIS reward! This fun idea came from our Celebrate and Elevate Action Team, and it was wonderful to see it come to life.

A huge thank you to our high school volunteers who stepped up and did an amazing job leading stations featuring different fall activities, including band, cheer, cross country, volleyball, soccer, golf, and football! They even adapted their activities to make them engaging and age-appropriate for each grade level.

Our high school students were also a great example of our 5 Cs in action: Collaboration, Communication, Citizenship, Critical Thinking, and Creativity.

We are so grateful for their time, energy, and willingness to make today a special experience for our elementary students! 💚
