Monte Vista's Mike Fleming and Santana's Tony Santana explore the AeroEd Group hosted East County Chamber of Commerce event. The AeroEd group is a fantastic resource for CTE, Linked Learning teams and all core subject areas. Located in the Air and Space Museum - Gillespie Annex, this group of aerospace professionals will provide content-specific guest speakers and tours. And they are right in GUHSD's back yard! As the end of the year is upon us, our CTE students are busy demonstrating the professional skills they have developed in their pathway classes. GUHSD CTE in the community! GHS Teaching & Learning students spent some time mentoring 5th graders. As they say, you never really learn something until you teach it. Way to go Foothillers!

It's not always about the pathway, sometimes it's just about making connections. The MVHS Auto Pathway students spent some time on the water this weekend fishing to finish out a productive year. Congrats to teacher Mike Flemming for keeping his four year streak alive by catching the first fish!

While the State is still working on new accountability measures, the conversation has not changed - the future is about preparing students for college and career. And CTE will be a critical component for all schools.

Building California’s initial college, career readiness metric could prove challenging State officials are considering a number of possible measures.

Local partnerships create lots of work-based learning opportunities for students and teachers. A big thanks to RCP for hosting a tour and leading some hands-on demos of working with construction materials. What a great opportunity for our teachers at El Capitan, IDEA, Santana, El Cajon Valley, Grossmont and Monte Vista.

Congratulations to Santana High Schoolt students Victoria Hilke, Cole Stromberg, and Nathan Garrett for being selected as the 2016 State Champions for this year's Engineering Design Challenge. Way to go Sultans!

It was an amazing day for the Monte Vista Transportation students at Cuyamaca College's Skills Day event. Angel Segura and Ismael Hernandez took 1st place earning $400 in tools each. Erik Palomares took 3rd in advanced and earned $300 dollars in tools. Fourteen MVHS students attended the event where they competed in skills covering 8 areas of the automobile. Real world learning in action! Great job Monarchs!
