Memorizing the steps is one thing, but understanding why we do them makes all the difference. When we move to Step 2 and multiply the tens place, that placeholder zero is absolutely crucial! It reminds us that we aren't just multiplying by 2; we are multiplying by 20.

Estimating is an important math skill, but what happens when your estimate isn't quite right? If you guessed 40 marbles and there were actually 65, how far off were you? That's where percent error comes in. It helps us measure the difference between an estimate and the actual value.
