📅 Tuesday, August 25th is an Early Dismissal Day. Students will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly.

A few important reminders:

🪪 IDs: Students must wear their ID all day, every day.
💻 Chromebooks: Bring Chromebooks daily and fully charged.
⏰ Attendance: Be at school every day and on time.

Can you believe it?! 10 school days DOWN and 160 to GO! 🎉 Our Gators are off to a great start, and we appreciate our families for partnering with us!

As we head into Week 3, our word is CONSISTENCY! Please help your Gator:

⏰ Be on time & attend every day

📣 IMPORTANT GRADING UPDATE!

Families, please be aware that grading expectations have changed for the 2026–2027 school year.

📌 Grades must reflect what students actually earn.
📌 The grading floor has changed.
📌 Missing work matters! Students should not expect to automatically receive a minimum grade for assignments they do not complete.
📌 All required assignments must be completed.

WE MADE IT THROUGH WEEK ONE!
What a great first week! Thank you for your patience, flexibility, encouragement, and partnership as we welcomed our Gators back to school. Week 1 was about getting settled, learning routines, and building relationships. Now, the real work begins!
As we enter Week 2, we are asking our students to become more intentional about their learning, choices, and effort. Please continue encouraging your child to come to school ready to learn, follow expectations, and give their very best each day.
📚 i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment
In accordance with the Orangeburg County School District Testing Calendar, the first i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment will be administered August 10–21, 2026.
Please begin talking with your child about the importance of taking their time, doing their best, and giving an honest effort. These results help us better understand your child's academic strengths and areas where additional support may be needed.
⏰ Early Dismissal - Tuesday, August 11, 2026
Tuesday, August 11 is an Early Dismissal Day. Students will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. Please make arrangements for transportation and afternoon supervision.
👔 Student IDs & Yondr Pouches
Students have received their school ID and Yondr pouch. Both should be brought to school every day.
Student IDs should be worn throughout the school day.
• Replacement Student ID: $5
• Replacement Yondr Pouch: $30
Please help your child develop the habit of checking for both items before leaving home each morning.
👨🏾 A Men's Mentoring Parent Interest Meeting
Families interested in having their student participate in our Men's Mentoring Program are invited to attend our Parent Interest Meeting Wednesday, August 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the Small Gym. (Use LMMS entrance)
We encourage interested families to come learn more about this opportunity to support, encourage, and develop our young men.

🐊💚 What a GREAT First Day at Lake Marion Middle School! 💛🐊
Our hearts are full after an amazing first day of school! Thank you, Gator families, for your partnership in making our first day a success! Your support in helping students follow our arrival expectations made the process smooth, safe, and efficient. Your cooperation helped students move through our new security system quickly so they could get to class on time and ready to learn. Thank you!
As a reminder:
🆔 Students will be issued IDs tomorrow and throughout the remainder of the week. Replacement costs will be $5.00.
💧 Students may bring one empty plastic water bottle to refill throughout the day.
🎒 Please check your child's clear bookbag each morning to ensure prohibited items such as Stanley cups, filled and or iced water bottles, aerosol sprays, energy drinks, and an abundance of oils, lotions, vaseline, and body sprays are not brought to school.
If your child has a documented medical need requiring any of these items, please contact the school nurse.
