Guy Liautaud Obituary

Guy Liautaud, 79, of Billings, passed away on March 10, 2017, at Billings Clinic with family and friends by his side. Guy was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Blida, Algeria, and grew up in Algeria and France. He moved to the United States in 1962, living in Boston; California; and New Iberia, Louisiana where he taught French. He became a U.S. Citizen and eventually settled in Billings after falling in love with the mountains and prairies of Montana on a previous vacation.

Guy graduated as a dental lab technician and worked in the field for many years. Guy liked to travel and on one occasion went on an around the world trip including visits to Indonesia, Australia, and Hong Kong.

He enjoyed history, literature, and classical music and after retiring in 2012, volunteered at the Western Heritage Center. He was very proud of the assistance he provided in translating the French letters of Wibaux, namesake Pierre Wibaux. Guy loved fishing, hunting, and touring Montana on his motorcycle.

Guy is survived by a brother, Marc (Raquel) Guillot and nephew, Paulo, of Cahors, France; nephew, Joanis, and niece, Ma?a, of Montpellier, France; and cousin, Yvon (Susanna), of Paris, France. He is also survived by his 'adopted family' of friends and acquaintances from Billings and the many places he visited. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Paulette.

Gil Vang, (can't remember the girl) and Mr. Riley. Circa 1966.
Mr.Riley Left Derville as a teacher around 1969 after it moved to Baseline. Mr. Riley was a holocaust survivor of Auschwitz. A natty dresser, he would come to school well dressed and smell clean shaved. On hot days, he would take off his jacket and roll up the sleeves of his starched white shirt half way up his arms unintentionally revealing his assigned number tattooed on his left forearm.
