Big News: Sonoma Clean Power and CTE Foundation are expanding free clean energy education across Sonoma and Mendocino counties! πŸ”Œ

Our partnership with Sonoma Clean Power started back in 2017 with the first Switch EV grant, and it keeps growing. We're opening a free STEM Kit Lending Library to middle and high school teachers throughout the region - no specialized training required, no big budget needed.

πŸ“… First checkout period opens August 24. Kits are picked up at SCP's Customer Center in downtown Santa Rosa.

Students - as you head back to school, here's a question: What are you interested in?

Healthcare? Engineering? Culinary Arts? Business? Agriculture? Construction? Automotive? Digital Media?

CTE pathways help you explore your interests while earning credits, building skills, and gaining experience that prepares you for college, careers, and life after graduation.

You don't have to have your future figured out.

You just have to be willing to explore it.

This year, take a class that connects learning to what comes next.

Every educator has heard the question: "When am I ever going to use this?"

Career-connected learning helps students discover the answer.

CTE pathways create opportunities for students to apply math, science, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills in meaningful, real-world contexts.
When students understand how learning connects to their goals, engagement grows, confidence increases, and classrooms become places where futures take shape.

Career-connected learning isn't separate from academics. It strengthens them.

Happy National Intern Day!

This spring, 105 students from 22 schools stepped into 42 Sonoma County workplaces and gave 4,335 hours of real work. A Path to Purpose internship is complete at 40 hours - but one in four students chose to continue their internships.

Nobody asked them to. Somewhere in those 40 hours, an adult in a local workplace showed them what their future could look like.

Our Program Coordinator/Student Advisor, Jolene Pighini, wrote about what that looked like up close - and why we need more employers to say yes before applications open August 12.

Who was the first person who let you into a real workplace? A young person should get to remember you that way.

Career Technical Education (CTE) happens when schools, employers, educators, and community partners work together to connect student ambition with real opportunities.

CTE Foundation is working alongside Santa Rosa City Schools and districts across Sonoma County to help students access internships, career exploration, industry experiences, mentorship, and pathways that connect classroom learning to future careers.

When students can see where learning leads, everything changes.
Ambition-connected. Community-connected. Career-connected.

A season of powerful change. 🌱

Our 2025–2026 Impact Report is here - and it tells the story of what happens when you give a young person real experience.

This past year, CTE Foundation reached further than ever to connect Sonoma County students with the skills, mentors, and opportunities that lead to meaningful careers:
βœ… 731 students gained career-connected learning experiences
βœ… 105 students placed into Path to Purpose internships with 42 local employers
βœ… 4,335 real-world hours completed by interns
βœ… $316K+ invested in healthcare workforce development
βœ… $350K+ raised at Spark the Future

Behind every number is a real young person who discovered their purpose, a teacher who gained new tools, and a local employer who met their future workforce.

To our funders, partners, educators, and employers who opened their doors: thank you. The future workforce is already here - and together, we're giving them the tools to make their dreams a reality.
