What if saying no isn't rejection - but self-respect?
In this week's Ask Coach Marie episode, I answered two questions about relationships: one about family expectations and another about a friendship that had become draining.
Both questions led to a deeper conversation about boundaries, values, and sovereignty.
When we continually say yes to others while ignoring what we need, we can slowly lose touch with our own inner knowing.
Healthy boundaries aren't about controlling other people. They are about becoming clear about what is right for us—and having the courage to honor that clarity.
And the timing of this conversation is especially meaningful.
On October 3, Venus begins her approximately 40-day retrograde journey in Scorpio. From an Evolutionary and Esoteric Astrology perspective, this cycle invites us to look beneath the surface of our relationships, attachments, values, and desires.
What are we holding onto because of love—and what are we holding onto because of fear?
Where have we given our power away?
What do we truly value?
And perhaps the most important question:
Are we living in alignment with what we say we value?
I've taken these ideas much deeper in my newest Substack article, When Saying No Becomes an Act of Love: Boundaries, Sovereignty & the Deeper Work of Venus Retrograde.
The article includes reflections and journal prompts to help you explore these questions in your own life.
The link is in the comments.
I invite you to read it slowly and give yourself some time to reflect. You may discover that a boundary you've been afraid to set isn't about loving someone less.
It may be about learning to love without abandoning yourself.
