Ever heard of glass clay? Most people haven't — it's ground glass that works like clay in your hands, then fires into solid, translucent glass in the kiln. No art experience needed!
I teach small workshops right here on Sonoma Mountain at Sonoma Flow Farm. Come make something one-of-a-kind. Details and dates at sonomaflowfarm.com

Looks like clay. Fires like glass.
Made from ground glass bottles, shaped by hand, transformed by heat.

Every person in this video picked up a glass cutter for the very first time that day.
I teach beginner Tiffany-style stained glass classes right here on Sonoma Mountain (about an hour from SF, near Santa Rosa). In one class, you'll learn to trace a pattern, cut and break glass, grind the edges smooth, foil it, and solder it all together into a finished piece, no experience needed.
Classes run most weekends, 10:30am-4:30pm, with a lunch break around 1:15. All materials and tools are provided, just show up. If you've been wanting to try something hands-on and a little different, this is a fun one.

This started as a Sharpie outline and a few pieces of glass. 🌿 Trace it, cut it, grind it, foil it, solder it, and yes, beginners do all of it on day one. Classes run most weekends, an hour from SF and worth the drive. Link in bio to find your date.

Here's how a glass clay shadow box comes to life. Glass clay is moldable recycled glass that you can roll, shape and fire into beautiful art. No glass cutting needed! Want to make yours? Join our 2-part workshop on March 15th and March 29th and leave with your very own glass shadow box. Link in bio to book your spot!

Two more classes with my young artists, and their lamps are really starting to take form.
What was once just imagination is now becoming something tangible — you can already recognize which lamp will be the airplane, the cloud, the lily flower, the beehive, and the dragon.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is witnessing that moment when an idea becomes real. Their creativity, patience, and confidence are growing with every class, and it’s truly magical to watch.

At the intersection of science and art, something new is taking shape.
As both a chemistry teacher and an art educator, I’ve spent years exploring what happens when those two worlds meet. The result is a material I call glass clay — made from recycled, ground glass bottles. It feels like clay in your hands, yet transforms into solid glass when fired.
On February 21st, I’ll be sharing this process in a hands-on workshop at Sonoma Flow Farm.
Watch the reel to see glass clay in action — and come experiment with me.

Second class of our homeschool lamp-making course, and the builds have begun!
After designing their lamps in week one, these students (ages 13–15) are now transforming their ideas into real objects. The creativity is amazing already: airplane, cloud, lily flower, beehive, and dragon lamps are in progress.
There is something very special about watching young makers realize they can turn their imagination into something tangible.
