Brianna is excited to join the team as the Bilingual Community Engagement Lead, where she'll bring together her passions for conservation, community, and the outdoors. She is especially excited to help create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to build meaningful connections with nature and with one another.

Brianna strongly believes that experiences in nature are essential and should be available to everyone. With this in mind, she is excited to learn more about the Sonoma County community and how she can best serve and support its members.

Brianna attended UC Santa Cruz, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Biology. During her time at UCSC, she discovered the many ways a career in conservation can make a difference from protecting natural spaces and restoring habitat to connecting people with the outdoors. When you see Brianna in the field, please be sure to say hello and give her a warm welcome!

Smoke alert: Occidental, West Sonoma County. 🔔 A 23-acre prescribed burn is is planned on Tuesday, October 6 at Ocean Song Preserve. This burn is part of ongoing work to restore native coastal prairie, and reduce wildfire risk while training a climate resilience workforce. LandPaths is partnering with All Hands Ecology on this burn.

This is a permitted burn; please avoid calling 9-1-1 to report smoke and fire in the prescribed area.

The safety of people and property is our number one priority. LandPaths’ and partner
organization’s prescribed, patch, and pile burns are carefully planned and must meet strict criteria for ecological benefit, weather parameters, smoke management, and fire safety guidelines.

Prescribed burn plans often change depending on conditions. The best way to stay informed about burns at Ocean Song is via . To receive mobile updates, including dates, details, and status, open the Ocean Song Rx report and toggle the notifications switch to the ON position.

The prescribed burn will be implemented over the course of one day, directed by prescribed fire managers from All Hands Ecology’s Fire Forward program with support from local fire agencies and organizations with the Good Fire Alliance (), the prescribed burn association serving the SF North Bay. The crew will manage the burn activities during the day and will patrol the area day and night until the units are secure.

On October 6, prescribed burn activities may begin as early as 8 a.m., and surrounding communities may see or smell smoke in the air for up to 10 hours. Ocean Song’s property includes frontage along Coleman Valley Road. Travelers in the Occidental/Freestone/Bodega area will see smoke in the air, fire on the ridge, and may experience slowing traffic. Residual heat and smoke may be visible after dark and on ALERTCalifornia cameras. Children, older adults, and those with respiratory conditions should consider limiting outdoor activities and using an air filter at home if local air quality is poor.

Please join us in welcoming Lauren to the team! She joined LandPaths as a Seasonal Camp Specialist in June 2026 and was hired on as a full-time Education Field Specialist this month!

As an ocean lover, she’s always found joy in nature but grew up with a complex relationship to the outdoors due to representation and access barriers, and to the personal impacts of the climate crisis among her community back home. She is dedicated to being a lifelong learner and participant of local and global environmental and social justice movements that break colonial cycles and restore relationships between land, water, and people.

Following her love and curiosity of the sea, she studied at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB), the University of Oregon’s coastal research facility. After graduation, her spark for teaching took her to Spokane, Washington as an AmeriCorps where she supported their environmental education and watershed restoration programs. She’s especially fond of her work with their Nature Connect program, in partnership with Refugee and Immigrant Connections Spokane (RICS), that empowers youth in local outdoor spaces.

Lauren is grateful to learn from and lean on her community of family and friends whose bravery, laughter, and love have helped shape her today.
