On a small crew, nobody hands you a producer. That job is yours, and Vito Rowlands calls it what it is: logistics. Talk to people, make everything come together, communicate clearly.
A call sheet is how you communicate clearly at scale. One document, one call time, one location, one set of contacts, everybody looking at the same thing.
Then there's the schedule. Rowlands says the reason to shoot short films is to learn how long your setups actually take. That number is the whole basis of a real shooting schedule. Guess it and you overbook the day. Measure it and you build a plan that holds.
And plan around what you can get, not what you wish you had. His question is always the camera, the cast, the locations you can actually access. Lock the real inputs first and the plan you write is the plan you can shoot.
