Episode 18 of Dabbleon podcast is live. I really enjoy talking with Jessica Hargreaves so I I have been looking forward to this conversation. In recent years her work has become increasingly mixed media and three dimensional so I was especially interested to hear about her experimentation with new materials. Check out her work here on IG and on her website jessicahargreaves.com and listen to our conversation at Dabbleon.com/podcast

Episode 16 of Dabbleon podcast is ready for you. This one is a little different. Robert Gamblin agreed to come back for an in depth conversation all about varnish. And we do go into depth. I was surprised by how many big gaps there were in my knowledge - really important information. I highly recommend listening if you're a painter. Robert has a wealth of knowlege and experience to share. I think you will enjoy his clear and careful way of explaining things as much as I do. Let me know if you like it and what other subjects you want to hear more about.

12” x 12” mixed media on panel + laser. This one isn’t photographing well. I’m not getting the pop of the neon pink and orange. Those colors. I’m finally letting myself admit that I really did like wearing those Beach Blvd. neon shirts in the 90s. Those colors are in me 💪.

12” x 12” mixed media on panel + laser. Laser could definitely be lumped in with mixed media but then I wouldn’t get to tell you that I used a laser. This is another from the lost years of COVID. The dark time.

12” x 12” mixed media on panel + laser bits. Another from the same series. Hard to capture some of the cool texture and sheen stuff happening. This one isn’t quite done but I’m feeling good about it.

12” x 12” mixed media on panel + laser. Been building this up for several months and finally feeling it resolve. Maybe it couldn’t resolve until COVID started to resolve. This series was definitely influenced by the weight and chaos of these past two years. Title?

Episode 15 is there for ya’ll.
Todd Squires has framed the artwork of many of the most influential artists of our time. I’m sure we could have spent a whole conversation talking about the artwork and artists he has been in contact with. In this conversation however we dig into his experiences making his own artwork.
You will see mostly photography in his Instagram feed but this is not indicative of the scope of his exploration. He has worked with a wide variety of both digital and physical media so we cover a bit of everything.
I really enjoyed talking with him. I hope you like the episode!

Sometimes a guy just has to make an ornament. If, like me, this would bring you joy I am making a small run of them for sale on Etsy: etsy.com/shop/bytrent

Finished and framed. Really like how this one came together. Laser cut resin and other stuff on panel.
