Acting & Alexander offers small classes with critically acclaimed instruction that produces results and books work. It is a tool that enhances your ability to become aware of physical habits that interfere with your work and helps you to eliminate rigidity and excessive or unnecessary tensions. Students of the Alexander Technique learn a practical approach and become more comfortable in auditions.

They learn how to alleviate performance anxiety so that they naturally experience more authenticity in their work. Many performers who have “hit a wall” creatively, or have faced daunting and career-ending repetitive strain injuries have found relief with Alexander Technique. It is important to note that Alexander Technique does not replace or interfere with your particular method of study, but augments any method of study, allowing you to create more space for freedom, clarity, and precision. Who we are...

Jennifer Schneiderman is an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and a graduate of the Alexander Training Institute of Los Angeles. Currently, she maintains a private Alexander Technique practice in North Hollywood and assists in the theatre department at USC and at the Joanne Baron Studio (a two year Meisner conservatory) in Santa Monica. Jennifer also teaches several acting classes at The Playground in Century City (under the direction of Gary Spatz), where she works with young actors on TV/film and audition technique. Before becoming an Alexander teacher, Jennifer was an actor in New York , where she performed internationally, regionally, and off-Broadway.In addition to her certification, she holds her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Penn State. Leah Zhang is an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and is a graduate of the Alexander Training Institute of LosAngeles.Currently, she teaches the Alexander Technique privately in Los Angeles , California , as well as, group classes at Santa Monica College Extension. She is a teaching assistant to Michael Frederick at the Joanne Baron Acting Studio, and has taught the Alexander Technique with Babette Markus at USC. At Loyola Marymount University she has taught Advanced Acting and Alexander Technique for musicians. Some of her other clients include the Girl Scouts of America Organization and runners at lululemon athletica. In addition to her Alexander Technique certification, she received her Bachelor of Theatre degree from Knox College and her Masters of Fine Arts degree in acting from The Old Globe/USD Professional Actor Training Program. What does "AmSAT-certified" mean?The requirements for AmSAT teacher certification include the completion of 1,600 hours of training over a minimum of three years at an AmSAT-approved Teacher Training Course. Teachers spend this period learning how to observe ingrained, mostly unconscious patterning and develop a hands-on approach (literally!) to help the student release unwanted, habitual tension.AmSAT is the largest professional organization for teachers of the Alexander Technique in the US . It establishes and maintains the nation’s highest standards for teacher training, certification and membership.
