Pacific Blue Music Camp The Pacific Blue Music Camp is a one-week day camp (summer) located at John Adams Middle School (Santa Monica)

Established in 1996, The Pacific Blue Music Camp is a one-week day camp located in Santa Monica, CA for middle school instrumental musicians. This unique experience offers daily instruction for young band and orchestra students in a large ensemble setting as well as within sectionals and master classes. Students have the opportunity to work with established music educators and professional musicians who focus on core fundamentals of individual pedagogical techniques as well as large ensemble dynamics and practices. Rehearsals are led by veteran conductors who are sensitive to the needs of developing musicians to build confidence and pride in the art of music performance. The Pacific Blue Music Camp is an ideal transitional activity for the young musician who is entering middle school. In addition, current middle school music students are offered more opportunities to both continue their individual advancement as well as to experience leadership roles. No matter the proficiency level of your middle school-aged musician, Pacific Blue will offer a memorable experience for all!

Announcing the 26th Annual Pacific Blue Music Camp!

Open to any middle school instrumental music student who wishes to “jump start” the 2024-25 school year with fantastic music-making and fun! Pacific Blue is also an ideal transitional activity for rising 6th grade musicians to “preview” an authentic middle school band and orchestra environment led by veteran music educators.

Pacific Blue '24 will take place at John Adams Middle School from Monday, Aug. 5 - 9 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Optional enrichment sessions will be offered from 1:00 – 3:00pm.

It's a wrap! Pacific Blue '23 is in the books! What a fantastic week of music-making with old friends, new connections, and lasting memories. We culminated our five-day camp with a music "exchange" that included chamber music and large ensemble presentations.

A special thank-you to our high school mentors for their inspirational work with our young musicians, and for being such terrific role models!

Our deep appreciation to our two awesome interns who were "hands on" with every single detail, and who also created and hosted a fun-filled round of "Jeopardy!" on our last day!

Finally, huge thanks to our students for spending the week with us - we are so proud of how far you've come in such a short period of time!

Wishing everyone well for the upcoming 2023-24 school year...we hope to see you again at Pacific Blue '24!

In addition to our full ensemble rehearsals, we also enjoyed a rotation of sessions including chamber music. Our young saxophonists, led by an international exchange student from Japan, have worked hard on this quartet arrangement (Allegro from Concerto Grosso, Op. 3, No. 4 by G. F. Handel).
