Announcing the 26th Annual Pacific Blue Music Camp!
Open to any middle school instrumental music student who wishes to “jump start” the 2024-25 school year with fantastic music-making and fun! Pacific Blue is also an ideal transitional activity for rising 6th grade musicians to “preview” an authentic middle school band and orchestra environment led by veteran music educators.
Pacific Blue '24 will take place at John Adams Middle School from Monday, Aug. 5 - 9 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. Optional enrichment sessions will be offered from 1:00 – 3:00pm.

It's a wrap! Pacific Blue '23 is in the books! What a fantastic week of music-making with old friends, new connections, and lasting memories. We culminated our five-day camp with a music "exchange" that included chamber music and large ensemble presentations.

A special thank-you to our high school mentors for their inspirational work with our young musicians, and for being such terrific role models!
Our deep appreciation to our two awesome interns who were "hands on" with every single detail, and who also created and hosted a fun-filled round of "Jeopardy!" on our last day!
Finally, huge thanks to our students for spending the week with us - we are so proud of how far you've come in such a short period of time!
Wishing everyone well for the upcoming 2023-24 school year...we hope to see you again at Pacific Blue '24!

In addition to our full ensemble rehearsals, we also enjoyed a rotation of sessions including chamber music. Our young saxophonists, led by an international exchange student from Japan, have worked hard on this quartet arrangement (Allegro from Concerto Grosso, Op. 3, No. 4 by G. F. Handel).

What an inspiring day we had, starting with incredible solo performances by a few of our Mentors!
We ended the day with a rousing game of Staff Wars - bravo to our "contestants"...the excitement kept us on the edge of our seats!
Our next activity was an exercise in improvisation. We were so impressed with the spontaneous creations that were performed around the room!

Today's workshops were filled with fun energy and musical creativity! We began with an introductory lesson in conducting (with "batons!") and practiced various beat patterns and stylistic gestures.

Our Pacific Blue Mentors and Interns are pretty awesome! They play in our rehearsals alongside our young campers to help reinforce good habits that will ultimately build confidence and musical success!

Pacific Blue '23 is off and running! We are having a lot of summer fun in our band and orchestra rehearsals as well as our enrichment sessions - listening games, chamber music, bucket drumming...there's much more to come!🎻🎷🎺🥁
