Back-to-school reality: the best AAC training in the world can’t carry a team through a whole year on its own. Implementation is where AAC lives or dies, and that is exactly what my resources are built to support. 💬✨

A note: My heart is a little tender this week (if you saw yesterday’s post, you know why), and this back-to-school sale was already in motion, so I am keeping my promise to you. Thank you so much for all of the good thoughts, good vibes, and prayers yesterday. ❤️

And because we had a delay on our end, we’ve decided to extend the sale through September 7 so you have a little more time to take advantage of the 50% off! 🙏🏻

Requesting prayers and healing energy for my mama— third times the charm 🤞🏻❤️ Another brain surgery and we are praying that it goes as smoothly and successfully as the last two.

I feel so incredibly grateful for all of the love and support our family has received—- collective energy and prayer is so powerful ✨ 🙏🏻

Flashcards —— are we surprised there was a table flip involved?

I am super passionate about finding a reason that kids are excited to communicate about AND giving them access to the language that they really want to use (e.g. “Flashcards are boring”).

Would love for you to join my session at the Child-Led Autism Summit this year—- it’s completely free to sign up 🙂🥳

I had a whole Baby Shark plan, and the best moment of the session was the one I didn’t plan at all, when he pivoted to his lunchbox and went looking for “open.” Holding your structure loosely enough to follow the child’s lead is a skill worth practicing, and it’s the kind of thing I teach SLPs and parents working with AAC learners every day. 🦈

Would love for you to join my presentation at the Child Led Autism Summit (August 10-13) and get professional development hours in the process! The best part? The whole event is completely free. 😍✨

A student says one word. It’s a noun. We assume it’s a request and hand over whatever they’re asking for or completely ignore them if we already gave them that thing.

But sometimes that word isn’t a request at all. It’s a comment. A label. Or even a question we didn’t catch because they didn’t have enough words to spell it out.

I dig into moments exactly like this in my session for the Child Led Autism Summit this year, how to notice a student’s strengths and building from there instead of defaulting to “they want something.”

Registration is completely FREE and I am honored to be presenting amongst and all-star team of presenters! Including AAC users and Autistic adults 🙂🥳✨

If you remove every prompt and nothing’s left, that’s not bad news. That’s information telling you exactly where to support a child next.

The goal was never a student who imitates well. It’s a student who initiates, on their own, with language that belongs to them.

Does this resonate? I’d love to hear from you.😍✨

Asking for some extra love today ❤️

My mom is having another brain surgery today in her cancer healing journey. If you have a moment, would you keep her in your prayers or send some healing thoughts and positive energy her way? She is struggling with expressive communication and so we are hopeful the surgery will bring back full communication skills 🙏🏻

I truly believe there’s power in collective energy coming together with love, hope, and intention. Thank you for holding her—and our family—in your hearts. It means more than you know!! Xoxo✨💗

I spent a whole session modeling “go” before I realized the kid wasn’t asking to go anywhere! Matching the exact word/phrase to a student’s real intention changes everything about how much prompting they need, and it’s the #1 thing I teach SLPs and parents working with AAC learners.

Would love for you to join my presentation at Preschool Autism Summit (July 12 to 15) and get professional development hours in the process! The best part? The whole event is completely free.

The prompting fix that changed everything for me: start with the LEAST support a moment needs, not the most. And this is the #1 skill I teach SLPs and parents when working with AAC learners. The truth is most “prompt-dependent” students have never had adequate space to learn how to communicate on their own.

Meet Bedford — he's 3, unstoppable, and because his family chose to share his story, an entire community came together to build an inclusive playground where every kid can play!

In this episode, I sit down with his parents Jesse and Hollie Erickson to talk about navigating a rare diagnosis with almost no roadmap, the everyday accessibility barriers most people never notice, and how a single TikTok post sparked something extraordinary.

This is for every parent who has ever sat in the uncertainty of a diagnosis and wondered, "what does this mean for my child's future?"

Have you listened to this interview yet? What resonated with you? Leave a comment below!
