The algorithm keeps pushing content, and not all of it is accurate. Watching more doesn’t teach real skills — it just creates confusion, anxiety, or unrealistic expectations.

How I reduced constant arguments with my child who has ADHD using two simple tools.

(From a parent who used to be tired of the stress, tears, and nightly battles.)

This year, I finally found a way to calm our family conflicts, and let me tell you, it was a process.

There was a lot involved that I didn’t realize would be the case.
Like how quickly emotions can escalate with ADHD.
And how tone of voice can spark a bigger fight than the actual problem.

Did you know that criticism often makes things worse, not better? Yes, neither did I!

And truth bomb coming. I made some mistakes.

I matched my child’s yelling with my own. I punished instead of teaching calmer responses. I forgot my child needed space to reset, to name a few…

But let me tell you, all that work, trial, and error paid off.

We LOVE getting feedback like this — hearing how the Executive Functioning Skills Assessment opened up honest conversations about focus, time, motivation, and how families and teachers finally found clarity in supporting their students.

And it got us thinking about all the other things we love about what we do at North Star Academics. So, why not make a list and share it?

The three biggest reasons we love helping students build their executive functioning skills:

• Seeing lightbulb moments happen. When students and parents finally understand why focus or organization feels hard — that awareness alone changes everything.

• Equipping families and educators with language, not labels. The assessment gives everyone a shared understanding of strengths and struggles, turning “What’s wrong?” into “What works for us?”

• Watching confidence grow with every small win. Once students know where they’re starting, they can actually see their own progress, and that builds lifelong motivation.

And honestly, there are a hundred other reasons why we do this work every day. But seeing understanding turn into empowerment? That’s the one that always stays.
