You’re never too old, or too young, to learn something new.

Just ask 98-year-old Hancock Community Education student Rae Gibbs, who has been taking classes at Hancock for more than three decades! Today, she’s still learning new sewing techniques and creating handmade gifts for her seven great-grandchildren.

Rae shares the classroom with students as young as 20, proving that learning, creativity, and friendship have no age limit.

💙 In honor of the 13th Annual Day of Hope, we’re proud to share an inspiring story from one of our own.
Community Education Coordinator Delicia Navarette recently shared her personal journey with the Santa Maria Times—from facing breast cancer in her 30s to finding strength through family, friendship and community. Now in remission, Delicia is focused on getting stronger, giving back to the community she loves and finding even more joy along the way. 💙
Day of Hope brings our community together in support of local cancer patients and their families, making Delicia’s story an especially meaningful reminder of the hope and strength that can come from having a community beside you.
