Nawic Central California Coast Chapter #174 NAWIC is a not-for-profit organization providing educational and networking opportunities to local women affiliated with the construction industry.

The Central California Coast Chapter was chartered in June 1970. Today, its members extend from Paso Robles to Santa Ynez, and meets monthly in Santa Maria. The chapter participates in a variety of local events including community outreach projects such as our Backpacks for Children in Foster Care and Christmas Bags for Teens in Foster Care. It offers educational speakers at its monthly membership

meetings which are open to the public and provides opportunities to network with others in the construction industry. Each year members participate in the National Association of Women WIC (Women in Construction) Week, a program to increase awareness and advance the cause of women in construction. The chapter offers college scholarships, attends regional and national conferences designed to educate its members in the field of construction. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is an international association of women employed in all areas of the construction industry from skilled trades to business ownership. NAWIC was started in 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas and since that time it has grown to a membership of over 5,500 women with close to 200 chapters in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom. With almost 900,000 women working in construction today, the industry is becoming more accepting of their non-traditional roles.
