Santa Maria High School proudly welcomed its incoming Class of 2030 during Freshman Orientation on Friday, August 7. The event gave students an opportunity to begin their high school journey with confidence, connection, and Saints pride.
Hosted by Link Crew Advisors Adrian Salazar, Abel Ortiz, Diana Beas, and Janice Swayze, the orientation was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Link Crew is a student leadership program that pairs incoming freshmen with trained junior and senior mentors who help them transition successfully into high school.
Throughout the day, freshmen met their Link Crew mentors and participated in team-building activities designed to encourage friendships, school spirit, and a sense of belonging. Students also received their school ID cards, class schedules, and district-issued iPads in preparation for the first day of school.
The orientation concluded with guided campus tours, allowing students to locate their classrooms and become familiar with important areas such as the library, cafeteria, counseling office, attendance office, and other student resources.
“Our Link Crew leaders are committed to making every freshman feel welcomed, supported, and connected from day one,” said Activities Director and Link Crew Advisor Adrian Salazar. “They will continue building relationships throughout the school year to ensure every freshman has the opportunity to thrive.”
Link Crew will continue supporting freshmen throughout their first year with activities, classroom visits, social events, and regular check-ins.
Welcome, Class of 2030! Once a Saint, Always a Saint!
