Mike Dawson Music Education

Congratulations to my piano student Rushil Yeluri and his Carnegie Hall debut. He won the American Protege International Competition and performed with a worldwide cast of young musicians. He performed the Tuba Concerto by Edward Gregson and studies brass with Jung Moo Lee of the Dallas Asian Winds.

Rushil's impressive accomplishments as a high school senior are a reflection of family love and support, self-starting motivation, and a broad education beyond music and arts.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, as part of their comprehensive arts/music education outreach, provided me with the information to enroll Rushil into the competition. Otis Gray of Steinway & Sons (Plano, Texas) put me in touch with Benjamin Alan Loeb who produced the audition video demo and performed the piano accompaniment.

"I think that we need to be able to honor silence," Kraus says. "And there's something almost mystical there. You know, may we have a moment of silence? It's really a time to kind of get into yourself."

How a little more silence in children's lives helps them grow Studies show too much noise, particularly loud, irregular noise, can hurt a child's brain development, because if sound is irregular, it distracts our brains and makes concentration more difficult.

Getting ready to teach music lessons. I've been running my education business since 1985. The global emergency forced me and many educators to become virtual/online education companies after decades of old school in-person lessons.
