What Is Skimo? The Newest Olympic Sport Has a Long History in Europe 02/20/2026

Helen Desmond '25 was recently featured as the cover photo in a Smithsonian Magazine article about Ski Mountaineering, a new Olympic sport making its debut at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. Helen is one of the top skimo competitors in the country, and was also featured this week in a segment about the sport on KOB4. On Friday, December 5, W***y Richardson '92 will open his new show at the Nüart Gallery (670 Canyon Road). The solo exhibition — titled "Time Dissolves Here" — will feature W***y's luminous chromatic paintings, exploring the emotional and psychological resonance of color. Nüart will host an opening reception from 5-7pm on December 5, and the show will run through December 21. Congratulations, W***y!

Through Saturday, December 6, former Prep art teacher and Art Department Chair Bette Yozell is presenting her new exhibition at the El Zaguán gallery (545 Canyon Road), titled "Refuge: Precise Papercuts for Chaotic Times." The gallery will host a free, public artist talk on Saturday, November 22. Congratulations, Bette!

THE MELODRAMA - Santa Fe Playhouse 09/16/2025

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, September 17, and running through Sunday, September 28, Prep alum Eliot Fisher '01 is directing the 103rd annual Melodrama at Santa Fe Playhouse. This marks Eliot's eighth time directing the local tradition since 2006. Karles McQuade ’01 is conducting the production and will play violin. THE MELODRAMA - Santa Fe Playhouse The tradition of the Melodrama lives on in the 103rd Annual MELODRAMA, which will continue evolving and honoring Santa Fe with fresh, locally-rooted satire.

Join us this Saturday, May 31 for our annual all-class alumni reunion on campus!

The program will open as 12:30pm with a presentation from the Historic Santa Fe Foundation and one of our newest alums, Colette Lee '25, in celebration of new commemorative museum panels being placed at the Meem. A State of Prep presentation with Head of School Aaron Schubach will follow.

From 1:30-3pm, current members of Prep's faculty will offer classes and activities around campus, including a visit to the Adesso Archives, a wheel throwing lesson in the Meem, and an exploration of the short story format.

Then join us from 3-5pm in the Upper School Quad for family-friendly fun and games, live music from The Lumbros (Adaiah Gonzales '27, Asher Gonzales '28, & Leo Sheppard '28), and treats and refreshments.

Join Prep alumna Liza Hale Doyle '17 and other artists at El Zaguán Gallery for "In Situ - Being in Place." Each artist in this group exhibition responds to the idea of being rooted within a specific place and explores what it means to feel and create a sense of belonging within communities, homes, studios, and the larger world around us. Expect to see work across a wide range of mediums including ceramics, sculpture, fibers, photography, and painting.

Opening Friday, April 25th from 5-7pm at El Zaguán (545 Canyon Road); the show will run through May 24th. Congratulations, Liza!
