Our students were absolute CHAMPS today! ❤️💛

Due to the air quality, we had to make a quick pivot and announce indoor recess- on our Pre-K and Kindergarten students’ very first day of school! 🥹 From our littlest learners/dusties in Pre-K and Kindergarten all the way up to our 8th graders, our students were so patient, flexible, and understanding.

A huge shoutout to our incredible El Dorado staff who are always ready to pivot and make every moment a positive learning experience for students. Whether it was reassuring a student who needed a little extra support, helping our youngest students adjust to their first day, or finding ways to make indoor recess fun, our staff showed up for our kids! ❤️

We are so proud of ALL of our students, Pre-K through 8th grade, for handling an unexpected change with such positive attitudes. Today was a great reminder that even when plans change, our El Dorado community knows how to adjust, support one another, and make the best of every moment! 🌟

Today, Mrs. Ortiz was interviewed by Ms. Navrot's New Mexico History students! 🌶️🏜️

Students are learning about New Mexico through the stories and experiences of longtime New Mexico residents. Mrs. Ortiz shared some wonderful memories, including the story of an adobe horno built at her dad’s house and how cooking food in the horno was an important and meaningful tradition for their family. What a beautiful example of how New Mexico’s history, culture, and traditions live on through our families!

Now, students will be taking these incredible questions home to interview their own family members and friends. We love seeing our students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to the stories of the people around them!

Air Quality Update: Though smoke conditions have begun to improve on the west side of Santa Fe, air quality in most areas of the city remains in the orange, red, or purple range.
All students will remain indoors for afternoon recess today. In addition, outdoor athletic practices will not be permitted. SFPS will continue to monitor air quality conditions and make adjustments as needed. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff.

Our hallways and classrooms have already been filled with so much excitement, learning, laughter, and positive energy. 💛 We are so grateful to our students, staff, and families for helping us start the school year on such a wonderful note!

And tomorrow, our El Dorado family becomes even more complete as we welcome our Pre-K and Kindergarten students for their very first day! 🎒🖍️🍎

We cannot wait to see their smiling faces, help them settle into their classrooms, and officially welcome our littlest learners to an amazing school year ahead!

Today was such a special day as we welcomed both our new and returning students and families. The smiles, laughter, and positive energy throughout the building were contagious. I heard so much excitement from our staff, students, and families, and it was clear that this community is ready for an incredible year together.

We are so grateful to be part of the El Dorado family and can’t wait to see all that this school year brings.

We’ll see our 1st–8th grade students on Friday for the first day of school! Here’s to an amazing year ahead! 🎉📚❤️

A huge thank you to Rudy’s Bar-B-Q for generously donating breakfast tacos and coffee to help us kick off the school year. We are so grateful for your support and for helping us start the day together with delicious food and great conversation.

Today was filled with connection, collaboration, and purpose. We spent time getting to know one another, learning about each other’s strengths, setting our intentions for the school year, and building the systems and structures that will help every student thrive.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was taking a few quiet minutes to write a note of gratitude to someone who made a positive impact on our lives this summer or helped fill our cup. In the coming days, we’ll add postage and send each letter on its way- because kindness and gratitude are meant to be shared.

Thank you, El Dorado staff, for an amazing first day. Your passion, positivity, and commitment to our students are already shining through. We can’t wait to welcome our students and families later this week! ❤️📚✨
