This too-lively yearling axolotl took a leap out of its watery home and fell 3 feet to the concrete floor. Still alive but a bit woozy. The close-up shows hemorrhaging in capillaries on toes, as a result of the blood-pressure spike when it hit the floor.
I gave it a salt bath and it's now in isolation--let's hope for recovery.
