For our final Microsoft post this week, let's take a look at the MS Teams LTI!
Microsoft Teams meetings LTI app helps admins incorporate Teams meetings into their educational institution's LMS course. Educators and students can view past and upcoming meetings, schedule individual or recurring meetings, and join team meetings related to the course, all from within their LMS. Here’s a video to show you how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN10zSo5mxg
For configuration steps, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/lti/teams-meetings-with-canvas?view=o365-worldwide
The Microsoft Teams classes LTI app helps educators and students navigate between their LMS and Teams. Users can access their class teams associated with their course directly from within their LMS. Here’s a video to show you how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDTgOIDrlKc&t=5s
For configuration steps, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/lti/teams-classes-with-canvas?view=o365-worldwide

Since last week was about Google integration, this week is all about Microsoft Integration! First, let's start with the basics...
If your Canvas Admin has enabled Microsoft Office 365, you can view all files in your Microsoft Office 365 (OneDrive) folder in Canvas. The OneDrive folder is accessed from the Course Navigation Menu. Check out this guide if needed: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-view-my-Microsoft-Office-365-files-in-Canvas-as-an/ta-p/1143
Recently, however, the partnership between Microsoft and Canvas and has deepened with the new OneDrive LTI. It allows you to:
- Attach Office 365 files including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel from the Rich Content Editor.
- Distribute Office 365 cloud assignments.
- View and organize your personal and course Microsoft OneDrive files.
- Access multiple Microsoft OneDrive accounts, including personal and school accounts.
- Integrate Office 365 files with your course modules.
- Use your Microsoft account for single sign-on with your LMS.
- and more!
For configuration steps, see Integrate Microsoft OneDrive LTI with Canvas: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/lti/onedrive-lti?view=o365-worldwide
Use Microsoft OneDrive Learning Tools Interoperability Create and grade assignments, build and curate course content, and collaborate on files in real time with the new Microsoft OneDrive Learning Tools Interoperability App.

Google integration also gives you the power of COLLABORATIONS inside of Canvas! Some of the most frequent uses of Collaborations include:
1. Collaborate on notes that everyone can access.
2. Collaborate on bullet-point lists or agendas for upcoming synchronous class or group time or meetings.
3. Create a text-based whiteboard that everyone in the classroom can see and refer to later.
4. Assign student groups a collaborative assignment as a graded assignment (instructor feature).
Here's a quick summary of Collaborations: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Basics-Guide/What-are-Collaborations/ta-p/61
Here's how you can set up a Collaboration: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-create-a-Google-Docs-collaboration-as-an-instructor/ta-p/634

One of our favorite things about Canvas is the deep Google integration that it provides. First, we recommend connecting your Google Drive with Canvas. The way that you do this varies depending on the feature settings available in your specific Canvas instance.
If you have a Google Drive link in your course navigation menu (see image), you can authenticate and view files as described here: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-view-my-Google-Drive-files-in-Canvas-as-an-instructor/ta-p/1145
If you don't have a Google Drive link in your course nav, you can set up as a web service inside of your Canvas instance (see image). Follow these directions to do so: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-connect-to-Google-Drive-as-a-web-service-in-Canvas-as/ta-p/736
Check back for future posts to see what all this allows you to do!

Based on feedback from everyone in the Instructure Community and as of 11/20, Canvas now displays the word count of a text entry assignment submission for instructors (only).
To see it in action, check out this video: https://vimeo.com/646287157
(Remember, you have the power to “Submit a Feature Idea” any time by clicking on the Help Menu in your Canvas instance!)

Did you know that you can hide student names and remove potential bias inside of Canvas? To learn more, check out this on how to do on an assignment basis: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-hide-student-names-in-SpeedGrader/ta-p/768
Here's how to enable anonymous grading at the course level: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-an-assignment-that-includes-anonymous-grading/ta-p/769
How do I hide student names in SpeedGrader? If you want to grade assignments without viewing student submission details, you can hide student names in SpeedGrader for anonymous grading. This option can be enabled on a per-user basis. When a grader accesses a SpeedGrader link, the first student displayed in the student list is always randomly....
