A nature and play childcare home I love spending time in the outdoors and am an avid backpacker.

I back country hike in many National Parks such as Grand Canyon, Glacier, Canyonlands, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Zion and Capitol Reef. I have two grown children who grew up playing outside all the time. I am now enjoying being a grandma (Yaya) and having the most fulfilling outdoor adventures!

Welcome our two new summer staff! We are so excited to have Ms. Natalie and Ms. Makayla. Here’s a little something about them.
Ms. Natalie is a resident tattoo artist at Waylon Harts Fat Dragon Tattoo and has been at the studio for 6 years. It’s hard to separate hobbies from work but outside of the studio she enjoys experimenting with different art mediums, thrifting, and nature walks!
Ms. Makayla has been working at Hitchcock primary in the lifeskills classroom for 6 years. Next year she will become the art teacher for the campus. She’s a giant bookworm who loves to read and color. She’s either by some sort of water or park with her dog during her free time. If she’s not there, the gym or movies are her next go to!
We are thrilled to have them create magic with our littles! ✨
Yes, we still have our amazing Ms. Tayli ❤️

Our exploration of light, shadows and reflections was beautiful. We started noticing our shadows outside and doing funny poses. An invitation was set up indoors with a small wooden mannequin by a window and we would trace the shadows during the day. Flashlights came next with hand shadows and other opaque items. I slowly brought out a variety of textured and colored glass including some small crystals.
The delight and wonder of seeing what would happen with and on the items and how things changed when the light moved. Mirror reflections were a big hit and one of our favorite things to explore was how we could create a unique reflection on the ceiling.
I’m excited to explore these and new possibilities with our littles next school year.

The creativity that’s being cultivated with some crates. These are some of our most used materials in the play yard, and for good reason.
These crates become airplanes, forts, ships, obstacle courses, skyscrapers and sometimes just a place to sit (on or in).
Here’s to more exploration and play all day!

Another beautiful collaborative piece from our littles. This wooden beaded ring was painted and then weaved with amazing little hands. ✨❤️

When we stick children in a room with everyone their exact same age, all doing the same thing, we are shutting down a lot of learning that could be taking place.

Children need the space to explore their interests and the opportunity to go deeper into those passions.

In their adult life there aren’t many situations that will require them to only be with others their exact same age, so what are we really preparing them for?

Having mixed age groups is shown to be beneficial for all parties.

What are your thoughts?

As educators in a nature school and environmental stewards who are working to create that practice with children, we reach out to amazing community members like to learn. We took a mushroom walk with Kev and had an amazing time at a local park. The cool organized the walk for a few of us, and there was instant connection. We were laughing, cracking jokes, and learning so much! I would recommend following and visiting him at a market or checking out his storefront.
ultimately, we understand that fungi are such important features for soil implant health, and that they connect trees to each other, allowing for communication and preservation. Let us be more like the mushrooms.🤣✨🍄

Kinder took a special trip to Friday and it was Clucktastic!! We saw so many varieties of chickens and baby chicks 🐣. There were opportunities for us to feed chickens and turkeys as well as hold chicks, chickens and sweet Marshmallow, the rabbit 🐰 ❤️ After feeding the chickens eggs, saying thank you and loading up, we headed to Pine Gully Park to eat lunch and play. On the way back, the van pulled us into a DQ for a surprise ice cream🍦 It was a wonderful day and we are so grateful to have had in our community ❤️
