Congratulations to Shoreline Middle School on earning the prestigious designation as a 2026 California School to Watch! This honor recognizes high-achieving model middle schools that demonstrate academic excellence, foster a developmentally responsive and socially equitable environment, and excel through strong collaborative leadership.

A heartfelt thank you to Principal Colleen Martin, Assistant Principal Melissa Nix, the dedicated team of educators and classified staff, and the outstanding students and families whose hard work and commitment made this achievement possible. Shoreline Middle School is one of only two middle schools in Santa Cruz County to receive the School to Watch designation in 2026.

The California Schools to Watch program is administered by the California League of Middle Schools and the California Middle Grades Alliance in partnership with the National Forum. Schools are eligible for re-evaluation and re-designation every three years to maintain their status. Shoreline Middle School was previously recognized as a California School to Watch in 2023, as well as a California Distinguished School in 2024, making this continued recognition a testament to the school’s ongoing excellence and commitment to student success.
