Kinetic Poetics Project An eclectic group of spoken word poets who hold open mic poetry slams and poetry writing workshops. Words are liberation. Come experience poetry (life)

Every year The Kinetic Poetics project produces the largest collegiate poetry festival of its kind IN THE WORLD, and is also the primary organizer of the dopest collegiate poetry scene IN THE WORLD (we hella bossy, deal wit it haters). KPP hosts poetry slams at the Cowell fireside lounge, which allow students and members of the UCSC community to come together and practice the art of slam poetry. The top poets at every slam qualify to compete at the annual KPP festival; a multi-day poetry extravaganza featuring internationally renowned spoken word artists and the very best of the larger UCSC art community. The top poets from the the festival qualify to be on the slam team that will represent UCSC at CUPSI, the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational!!!! More importantly, KPP inspires budding poets to write and share their stories. It brings together a number of different communities to share, create, and appreciate poetry. This acts as an educational medium through which students can learn about the world around them via the perspectives and experiences of their peers.
