UCSC - Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity

We are an international fraternity with the goal of guiding members in making an informed decision about pursing a legal education.

Follow us on Instagram at The purpose of this Fraternity shall be to form a strong bond uniting students and teachers of the law with members of the Bench and Bar in a fraternal fellowship designed to advance the ideals of liberty and equal justice under law; to stimulate excellence in scholarship; to inspire the virtues of compassion and courage; to foster integrity and professional competence; to promote the welfare of its members; and to encourage their moral, intellectual, and cultural advancement; so that each member may enjoy a lifetime of honorable professional and public service.

Here’s some words from our wonderful IGC Delegate Bailey!

hey guys, my name is Bailey!! I’m an incoming fourth year majoring in Legal Studies and I’m your IGC Chair. I transferred from Community College to UCSC last year. I joined PAD my first quarter on campus to meet other like-minded people. Coming from community college I didn’t really have a sense of community and belong and PAD was able to give that to me. One of the best things about PAD is the overwhelming amount of support and knowledge I’ve gained from this organization. Being a first generation student I felt clueless about law school but I knew I wanted to go and that law school is my path. PAD helped me feel more confident with my law school journey.

Hi guys! I’m Violet Burrell and I am a third year legal studies and politics major as well your apparel chair! I decided to join PAD fall quarter of my sophomore year so I could meet other slugs that wanted to go into law. PAD has been a positive space for me to get involved with the legal community at Santa Cruz and has really motivated me to focus on getting to law school post grad. Also it has made the LSAT seem a lot less scary. I am so excited to welcome yall into this very special chapter and I hope to be seeing and getting to know yall at recruitment!

Hi! I’m Lauren, a fourth-year Legal Studies major with a minor in Dance, and I’m PAD’s Social Chair! I love PAD because it has given me the opportunity to be surrounded by people who share my passion for law and are working toward similar academic and career goals. It has also allowed me to form meaningful friendships, learn from other members, and feel supported throughout my pre-law journey. As Social Chair, I’m excited to plan fun events that bring everyone closer together and make this a memorable year for our chapter!

Here’s some words from our wonderful Philanthropy director Lili!

Hi everyone! My name is Lili and I’m an incoming third-year majoring in politics and legal studies. Being a part of PAD has given me the ability to explore the legal field beyond the classroom while expanding my knowledge, pursuing my interests, and developing a clearer vision of what my future in law may look like.
Aside from that, I’ve also really valued the opportunity to connect with people who share similar goals and interests while also bringing their own unique approaches to the legal field. As Philanthropy Chair, I’ve enjoyed finding meaningful ways to give back to the community and creating experiences for our PAD members to make a positive impact. This role has also helped me grow personally and gain a deeper appreciation for volunteering and community involvement. I’m especially looking forward to meeting new recruits this fall and supporting them as they embark on their new journey with PAD! 💛💜🤞🏼
