my daughter is in 5th grade at Happy Valley school. They normally go to 6th there, but the board has determined that there probably isn’t enough space to allow my daughter and 4 other 5th grade IDT students to finish out their last year there.

I taught at Happy Valley up until last year, i have many close connections with the staff, students and community, so I’m shocked and really wasn’t expecting this. I just assumed that she would be able to start middle school at the same time as her friends. I’m nervous for her to start middle school without her friends. (I adore the other IDT kiddos from a teacher POV but they’ve known each other for years and no tight friendships there)

We’re in the Scott’s Valley district, but I heard it’s kind of cliquish and she’s already had trouble with that at Happy Valley. She is smart, funny, sensitive and incredibly kind. She has ADD and has a unique imagination and a creative perspective on life which has been a difficult road at times. She’s not particularly into sports, but is reluctantly doing soccer every year

Since most of her friends will go to B40 in 7th I’m leaning toward that as an IDT again. Wondering if any of you have nice kiddos also entering B40 (or Scott’s valley) as a 6th grader who:

Would be interested in a free art class at my studio with a group of other B40/ Scott’s valley kids

Would want to join my art class for Scott’s Valley Parks and Rec this summer. (Classes not posted yet)

Would want to join our existing anime art class on Thursdays from 4-5 (for free)

Have soccer plans in mind for summer

Have a cool spring or summer camp lined up with other b40 or SV kiddos

Would want to hang out with us

Here is the website for my business https://www.imagineartstudio17.com

On Sunday April 30th, I’ll be painting faces at the Day of the Child event at Live Oak Elementary School from 11am-3pm. If you’re there drop by and say hello!

We were inspired by the rain so we did a stop motion version of this watercolor that I did a while back. Feels very fitting for this relentless stormy weather!

Love this message. Rather than putting more pressure and shame on ourselves with rigid New Year resolutions, let’s try to believe in ourselves and the untapped strength we already have. everyone!

Had to share this beautiful quote from Albert and lovely illustration by Haz?
Having love and empathy for loved ones is easy, but when you can expand it to strangers and even people you don’t see eye to eye with it becomes a powerful tool for inner peace. It’s just like they say, forgiveness is something you do for yourself. Because holding on to anger disturbs our inner peace but doesn’t really effect the person who pulled out in front of of us at the grocery store. Imagine taking it to the next level and sending that person a smile that they probably desperately needed. Not because you like their actions, but because you understand that they were probably having a hard day and maybe even a hard life. You have the power to effect the world in a positive way every time you interact with others. So why not chose love? Just remember to always honor your boundaries and you will be an unstoppable force in this world!

Comment if you know the illustrator so I can give credit

Anyone else secretly relived that the holidays are over? 🤫😬😵‍💫

I love the magic of the holidays but not so much the consumption the consumerism the frenzy, the pressure to give our kids the best memories while facing the challenge that come along with trying to keep my kids humble and focused on what matters. It’s exhausting 😵‍💫

That said, I don’t see why the magic needs to end. Snowmen are still allowed right? Artist credit goes to the fabulous .illustration
