Join AIRC & SANAI for an Indigenous Peoples’ Day teach-in exploring Indigenous history, sovereignty, and futures in the Santa Cruz region.

Together, we’ll learn about the Indigenous peoples and histories of this region, examine how colonialism has shaped the ways Indigenous histories and relationships to land are remembered and represented, and consider the continued presence, resistance, and sovereignty of Indigenous communities today.

We’ll also think critically about what it means for institutions like UCSC to acknowledge Indigenous land and history—and what can come beyond acknowledgment.

Through conversation, food, and collage-making, we’ll reflect on the past while imagining the Indigenous futures we want to support and create. 🌱

No prior knowledge is required—just come ready to learn, listen, create, and participate. ❤️🪶

The Cardiff House invites our students to its Open House on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026! 🪶🪶

The Cardiff House is proud to house the American Indian Resource Center, People of Color Sustainability Collective, and Womxn’s Center.

Starting from 3pm, our house will host music, crafts, and free lunch for students to discover new connections and an opportunity to build community!

Come explore our resources like the medicine cabinet, food pantry, printing services, and basic needs cart. 🌿❤️

You can find us at 117 Carriage House Rd, Santa Cruz, near the base of campus by the TAPS office where you’ll find our team ready and excited to familiarize you all with our space and yours.

Join Dr. Kalzang Bhutia for a talk and workshop about Indigenous Ecological Justice by creating traditional prayer flags sustainably. ☮️❤️

Expect leaving this event learning more about how local communities address ecological issues and practicing indigenous ecological justice and sovereignty. 🌎💪

This event will take place on Monday, October 5th, 2026. The talk is at 11am in Humanities 1, Room 202 and the workshops will be 1pm and 3pm in Humanities 1, Room 210. Free lunch will be provided!

An enormous ‘thank you’ to all who attended the Spring Book Drive in support of the American Indian Resource Center Prison Reading Project! 🌤️📚 On May 8th, 2026, we enjoyed iced cold boba and delicious chocolate chip cookies made by PRP intern , shared and learned more about the project, and were delighted to be in community with you all! Because of you, 3 additional book donations were made possible to correctional institutions nationwide, and inmates are now able to reconnect with their cultures, traditions, stories, and heritages through literature. Cheers to literacy as liberation and wishing everyone a beautiful rest of spring quarter!
