Ever wanted to camp overnight under the stars right on campus? 🌜✨
Join Adventure Rec and the DSAS Center for Leadership and Involvement for the 5th annual Slugs Campout!

Here is everything you need to know:

🗓️ Date & Time: Friday, Oct. 2 | Check-in starts at 6:30 p.m.
📍 Location: Upper East Field (Check in at the Adventure Rec tent by the sand volleyball courts)
What to expect: S’mores, hot chocolate, sunrise yoga, campfire games, and a light breakfast in the morning!
Gear: Sleeping bags and pads are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, or feel free to bring your own!
🚫 No tents allowed to protect the irrigation system.
No registration required! Just show up with your UCSC ID and friends!

Getting ready for Move-In Day, Slugs? 🧳✨
Make your arrival smooth by keeping these essential reminders in mind before heading to campus:
1️⃣ Know where to go before you arrive on campus
2️⃣ Bring a photo ID
3️⃣ Have your UCSC student ID number on hand
Don't have a move-in appointment scheduled? Be sure to log into the Housing Portal and take care of that asap! Head to the check-in table once you arrive at your scheduled move-in time and location. We’ll help you with the rest once you get here!

As a new academic year begins, Executive Director Alex Belisario and AVC CHES Laura Arroyo are sharing a special welcome with our newest and returning residential Banana Slugs.

Whether you’re arriving at UC Santa Cruz for the first time or returning to a community you already call home, they want you to know how glad we are that you’re here. The year ahead will bring new experiences, new connections, and plenty of moments of discovery. And through all of it, your residential colleges, our teams, and communities across campus are here to support you, help you find your people, and make UC Santa Cruz feel like home.

📬 Check your inbox, Slugs! Some important fall housing reminders just dropped.

We sent an email to all continuing students moving into university housing this September. Here is a quick breakdown of what you need to know:

🗓️ Important Dates to Remember:
August 14: Deadline to update your billing preference (quarterly vs. monthly installments) in the Housing Portal.
August 20: Room and roommate assignments will be sent out, along with move-in details!
September 14: Deadline to change your meal plan preference for the fall quarter.

👋 Plans changed? If you no longer need university housing for the fall, please cancel your application in the Housing Portal as soon as possible to avoid increased cancellation fees and free up the space for another student.

UCSC undergraduate housing closes Friday, June 12, at noon.
Get ahead of move-out now to make your last week on campus a little less stressful.

• Start early and pack items you don't use every day
• Clean your room, apartment, and shared spaces
• Coordinate transportation and parking plans
• Donate unwanted items at Goodwill donation stations in your residential community
• Return any dining hall dishes that may have made their way home with you
• Return your keys and complete your move-out checklist

When it's time to leave, submit your Express Check-Out Form before departing.

A little preparation now can save a lot of stress later.

📬 Current residents: Check your email! Your housing community has sent you a message with all you need to know for spring quarter move-out – and now’s a great time to start planning ahead.
A few things to take care of early: 
✅ Submit a late checkout request if you need to stay past June 12 (deadline: June 5)
✅ Look into CollegeBoxes if you need shipping or storage 
✅ Review your move-out checklist so there are no surprises

We’re sorry for the disruption, Slugs. Due to a system outage with StarRez, today’s Room Selection has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 14.
Because early system issues affected availability and appointment tracking, today’s selections will be reset to ensure a fair process for all. Original appointment times will be maintained when Room Selection takes place on Tuesday, April 14.

We know how stressful this process can be. Many of you planned your day and coordinated with roommates—we hear you and understand how frustrating this is.
