Job Posting: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track - Eckerd College
The music discipline seeks a colleague who will bring innovative and creative pedagogies informed by the latest directions in the discipline. The successful candidate will be a dynamic teacher and scholar expected to instruct courses including music history and culture, world musics, tonal theory and musicianship. A demonstrated success directing an ensemble is highly preferred. Candidates must have a record of scholarship and additional contributions to the field.
Our new colleague will be an innovative program builder who will employ inclusive pedagogies, forge interdisciplinary relationships, and thrive in the unique environment of a liberal arts college. The ideal candidate is committed to boundary-crossing thinking inside and outside the classroom while demonstrating success developing and piloting curriculum. Additional responsibilities will be determined by the departmental needs and the candidate’s specializations.
Teaching duties include seven courses per academic year (3-1-3). A successful candidate will be able to contribute to both academic and performance aspects of a broad-based, liberal arts undergraduate, interdisciplinary arts, and general education student communities.
Participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including a regular rotation in the two-semester first-year program. Eckerd College, the only independent national liberal arts college in Florida, has a tradition of innovative education and teaching/mentoring excellence.
