Talent alone isn’t always enough to get cast. 🎬
Sometimes it’s your headshots. Sometimes it’s your audition. Sometimes it’s how you present yourself before you even walk into the room.
Here are a few reasons talented actors don’t get cast and what you can do differently.

"Suzy and I feel like it was just yesterday when we first walked through the doors of Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts. Miley was just 4 years old, full of energy, big dreams and a spark we didn't quite know what to do with yet. After a lot of thought and research, we made the decision to join the program. Looking back now, that was one of the best decisions we've ever made. We believe that SCSOPA has played a major role in Miley's growth and success. Suzy and I want to thank everyone at SCSOPA. When Miley makes it big, we'll always say, 'It all started here.' We especially want to thank Mike for always being there for us. This journey isn't easy in the beginning - but once things start to fall into place, it becomes something truly special."

"As parents, you never quite know where a child's interests might lead. Our daughter has always loved performing, singing, acting and being on stage. When we first enrolled her at the Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts (SCSOPA), we simply wanted a place where she could explore that passion and learn more about the craft. We didn't expect the school to guide us through the essential first steps into the acting world so quickly. SCSOPA helped us navigate those early steps: taking professional headshots, practicing monologues, preparing for auditions and, eventually, securing an agent. The teachers are incredibly-supportive while emphasizing real technique. That preparation quickly led to opportunities we never imagined. She was thrilled to land a role as the voice of 'Child Beth' and 'Child Space Beth' on 'Rick & Morty.' More recently, she worked on a motion capture and voiceover project for the trailer of the video game 'Ready or Not.' Her first professional job took place in a major network's recording studio. As parents, we were nervous watching her walk into such a high-level environment - but she wasn't. Because SCSOPA has its own recording studio with professional equipment, she said the setting felt familiar. She walked in, put on the headset, opened the script and got right to work alongside award-winning producers. Most importantly, she still loves going to SCSOPA each week. She's made friends, continues to grow and is discovering there is always more to learn. As she says, 'At SCSOPA, I learned that acting isn't just about saying the lines, it's about reacting to what's happening in the scene.' We can see her taking these teachings to heart and her acting improve. Watching her grow and gain experience, with the support of SCSOPA, has been incredibly rewarding for our family."

"I'm Lev Wicked and I make films that haunt you a little. I write, direct and act in genre stories that live somewhere between magical realism and psychological horror. My latest feature, 'Bleeding Heart,' is about grief, transformation and identity. As a multifaceted creator, it is very important to me to have support of community and a sounding board for my art and practices. I have gained both of these things by my attendance at SCSOPA, where I am surrounded by other people and their pursuit to create beauty and art through motion. I've learned a lot within my short months at the school from teachers as well as fellow craftspeople. I've been provided ample opportunity to network, which has really helped me gain more traction and interest in my work. I am very honored that the school has been so supportive and has given me a place to rise."

"Seeing Catalina's confidence bloom, from runways to being featured in Matilda Magazine, has been transformative. She had just turned 3 when we began taking her to SCSOPA. We travel from Earlimart to Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts - and every mile is worth it! Catalina isn't just growing in skills, she's developing charisma, self-esteem and character. It's not just about her; this journey has helped me grow, too.
I saw her love for acting, her expressions and her bilingual voice. If you see that spark in your child - whether it's performing arts, music, or anything they love - don't hesitate. Just like any class that expands horizons, this is an investment in their future - and yours. Don't see it as wasted time or money, see it as opening doors you never imagined."
