College of the Canyons has been awarded $779,000 in funding from Axim Collaborative to establish the AI for Teaching and Learning Institute (AI4TL Institute).

Developed in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, the six-month virtual program will support community colleges and other broad-access institutions in developing effective, ethical, and student-centered approaches to integrating generative AI into teaching and learning.

The inaugural cohort is scheduled to begin in Spring 2027, further reinforcing College of the Canyons' commitment to innovation and excellence in higher education.

The College of the Canyons recently received a transformational $1.1 million gift from The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation to advance the college's Advanced Technology Center (ATC)—a state-of-the-art initiative that prepares students for careers in high-demand technology and skilled trades while strengthening the regional workforce.

The investment will help expand student access and enhance academic programs in advanced manufacturing, network technologies, and welding. It will also support curriculum innovation, workforce pathway development, and other initiatives that connect students with in-demand career opportunities throughout Los Angeles County.
