Depression, anger, anxiety, worry - what do these emotions, and the thoughts which accompany them, have in common? 🤔
They all serve important evolutionary purposes in the context of survivalâť—
But we tend to experience these difficult thoughts and emotions even when our lives are not at stake, where did we go wrongâť“
The problem is two-fold...
1. We've elevated day to day concerns, like overdue bills, to the level of immediate existential threat.
2. We reinforce this threat assessment through aversion towards the effects - the difficult thoughts and emotions.
So most of us are walking around stuck in a survival response...
