FCCLA Santa Clara High School

This year's State Leadership Meeting wasn't what I envisioned my last State meeting as an Adviser to be . . . and yet, this year's Chapter amazed me with their accomplishments: a second place in National Programs in Action: Community service, an elected Region officer and for the second time in four years, the state president will be a member of the SCHS Chapter. I couldn't be more proud of this group and all they've done in this difficult year of distance learning!

Never could have imagined 8 years ago when we started our FCCLA chapter at SCHS that the big Region meeting with schools from all over the Bay area would look like this . . .

On behalf of my students at Santa Clara High School: Thank you to all of the dedicated people working in the food service industry, wearing masks, working in challenging conditions and putting themselves at risk so that we can still enjoy the food that certainly is one of the bright spots of this quarantine! Please re-post to the pages of anyone you know who is working through this pandemic.

A full day of experiences, starting at the SF Fairmont atop Nob Hill where we got a behind the scenes tour of the kitchen, ball rooms, Tonga Room and more. We heard presentations by the Catering Manager as well as the Concierge - then on to The Blue Mermaid restaurant at the Argonaut Hotel where Managers made time to chat with us. The day ended with a visit to Musee Mechanique and of course, Ghirardelli Square!

It was a busy week at Santa Clara High School

For the first time EVER SCHS FCCLA members who had at least 3 full years affiliation as an FCCLA member, participated in community service projects through FCCLA and maintained a 3.0 GPA were approved to wear the official FCCLA sash at the graduation ceremony - it was a proud moment!
