A school for 6th and 7th grades, we are dedicated to doing what is best for all students and ensuring that all students have opportunities to learn at high levels. We offer a wide selection of academics from honors programs to co-taught classes giving us many opportunities to meet the needs of all of our amazing students. LRIS also offers many venues for students to develop leadership skills, such
as Student Council, Bus/PE Zone Leaders, Safety Patrol and School of Life. Our school offers other programs to enrich the learning experience for students: Lego League, Science Olympiad, St. George City's After-School Program, Spanish and Chinese language instruction, school newspaper, History Fair, the annual Gecko-thon, Intramural sports, etc. We have an additional focus on promoting positive behavior by awarding students, who meet and exceed expectations in settings throughout the school, with a Gecko Card which is redeemed for a variety of prizes and incentives. LRIS also focuses on teaching students to serve. Whether it is a local focus, like food drives for the Switchpoint Center; or a national focus, such as the Snow Canyon Cone Site project, ; we believe in student investment in making the world a better place. Our highly qualified staff and faculty are united in their purpose to reach all students by teaching and supporting students in fun, innovative ways, using everything from technology and real-world problem solving skills. The overwhelmingly positive climate of our school is tangible to parents, teachers, students, and visitors alike. Lava Ridge Intermediate was recently awarded an "A" grade by the Utah State Office of Education. We are dedicated to the students we serve and enjoy providing an effective, fun and safe educational experience for them. Lava Ridge is truly the place to be!
